Nice post. The headline is slightly misleading though. Surely Hawking won't be passing judgement on whether it's an alien ship until the research has been done? if they hear alien music coming from it, I'm sure he'll alter his beliefs to fit the facts. He's a scientist, it's a culture of doubt, not faith.
