3 Important things for an Early Bird

in success •  7 years ago  (edited)

Night owl or an early bird..Your preference ? I prefer Early Bird.

It’s night time and I say to myself with determination that ‘I will wake up tomorrow morning at 5:30 AM like most successful people do’..I also set up the alarm on my phone Clock struck 5:30 AM and my Alarm phone rang.
Being as lazy as I am , I was quick to press the snooze button by promising to myself..’I will surely wake up in next 10 mins’.

I did wake up but couldn't believe the time which showed up on my phone. It was 8 AM..I bang my fist on a wall, cursing my self . Being quite disappointed I started thinking to myself.
Will i ever be an early bird..I am feeling so terrible’

Dear Steemit friends, have you all gone through this feeling anytime in your life?

Being an early bird really helps you to get a head start on the day before the rest of the world rolls out of the bed. They say it’s a trait of highly successful people. There are many successful people who wake up early in morning. How do they do this? Only way to find answer to this question is by experiencing it couple of times and to experience it, we need to motivate ourselves by thinking about all the benefits we can achieve by waking up early.

So what are those important things which we can do early in morning that will benefit us immensely?

Some of them which can be look out for are ..

Exercise: - It gives us the benefit of being energetic throughout the day. We need to target not only physical but mental exercises as well

a) Physical: - As per research, exercising empty stomach in morning burns 20% more fat. It helps to keep your energy and metabolism levels high. You can either hit the gym or can go for a jog or walk and complement it with yoga and freehand exercises at home.

b) Mental:-Along with your body it is very important to take care of your mind as well. The best way to do it is through the power of meditation. Meditation is the most powerful gift God has given us. It helps us to control our thoughts, improve concentration, increases self-awareness and gives us immense inner happiness

Planning the day: - Have you ever done an introspect of how much time do you waste in a day on non-productive things? How to get rid of it and ensure each and every day is productive and better than previous day? That’s exactly the benefit which planning our day gives each one of us. Plan gives us a guideline and helps us to remain focused throughout the day. Plan should include both official and personal aspect as well as should help you to come an inch closer to your goal. It should include that one thing which you feel you should do better from previous day, that one risk which you would take today and that one way in which you can help someone. Make a commitment to yourself that you would stick to the plan you have laid out

Journal writing: Do you know how many thoughts we get in a day? Its somewhere between 50000 to 70000. Daily journal writing can help us the capture some of our important thoughts, record our observations and get to know ourselves better. Every morning, make it a practice to write 3 pages in your journal. You can write whatever comes to your mind just scribble along and believe me you can easily write 3 pages. With each passing day, you will be surprised on benefits which it will pass on to you. It will help you to preserve your memories, improve your writing and sharpen your senses, make you a better observer and much more.

Many successful people today follow these principles like

Virgin founder- wakes up at 5:45 am hit the gym for 1 hr and meditate
Apple CEO Tim Cook wakes up at 3:30 am and plans his entire day
AOL CEO Tim starts his day at 5 am
Xerox CEO Ursula Burns rises at 5:15 a.m
GE CEO Jeff Immelt rises at 5:30 a.m. to work out
PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi is in the office by 7.am.
Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey wakes up before dawn for a 6-mile run
and many more

To summarize, being an early bird will not only give you an early edge but will also help you to feel more happier and less irritated throughout the day. Exercise would make you more energetic, daily plan will make you more focused and journal writing will help you to know yourself much better

With so many benefits to achieve, don’t you think paying a small price of waking up early is a good investment?
