Jupiter Sovereign Update 2

in tabletop-rpg •  6 years ago

Quick status update, it was a hectic day/week, so I am behind where I thought I would be.

The font used in Jupiter Sovereign is somewhat of an interesting issue, because there just aren't that many fonts that feature alchemical symbols (and some of the exotic astrological symbols we use, like Proserpina). There are a few free fonts that cover alchemical symbols, but the extended set is difficult to find in a free font.

I reached out to George Douros, creator of Symbola, and he hooked us up with a version of the font that just includes the parts we need and which we can use in Jupiter Sovereign without any legal issues (normally it's only free for noncommercial use, and we like to really stick to legal IP usage because we request the same courtesy from others).

@znkd is also doing some art for the book, and what we've seen so far from him makes us excited (I'll let him decide how much to share over on his feed). I think that Jupiter Sovereign could become a great looking game with a little effort, and while it's still a "side project" I'm enjoying the expansion in scope and it feels right.

There was a great response to the intro fiction, Genesis, on Monday, which surprised me. I have a couple more ideas, including a scene with Adomas and Zaman, that I might develop further. I'm not much of a fiction writer by my own estimation, so I really feel happy that people like it.

My goal is to get a working character creation setup done for next week and release a preview of the game that is playable.
