Improving English as a Foreign Language

Based on one of the articles that I have chosen to write about for one of my class tutorials. I’ve decided to choose the first article, which issues about learning English as a foreign language. Based on the points give, the article showed that one of the ways that enable people to learn English for a foreign language is surprisingly through video games. Specifically when they interact with the people online the game through chat or voice call. Online game players variety not only English speakers but even from other countries.
As a person who personally plays games online and chats with people in English, I can agree with the idea that through games, people can learn English better. The author used examples such as the game DotA 2 and role-playing games (RPG) that serve as an educational tool while at the same time becoming entertainment for the users. Examples such as the use of simple words like Advancing, Enemy, Attach and Combat. Studies have also shown that even none native English speakers have learned to chat a little in English as it has become natural for them when they play games.
This is essential because, from my perspective as a person having English as my second language, I’ve seen so many beneficial things to be earned from learning English and any other additional language in our lives. Besides having an upper hand for communicating with more people, we are also able to gain knowledge of people’s culture as language is also a part of people’s culture.

I would like to try suggesting playing some games just so that we can try other methods of trying to improve our English use in life if we are having trouble using it through communication. With classmates, it would be less awkward to try to start to practice the language by communicating. Besides, it is much better to learn something once you’ve gained some interest in them. That’s one of the challenges of learning something new because if you’re not interested in them, you’ll have a hard time trying to absorb the information given. At the very least, through games, we can already assure the person’s interest as they will be entertained by the game. Nothing wrong with trying a unique way to learn English.
This is kinda mostly from my own perspective because I play a lot of online games and meet a lot of people haha
