Passing through the Buoho market station

It turns out today was a market day for the people of Buoho. Yes, not everyday is a market day. Don't get me wrong. There are always stuff available for purchase in the markets especially our biggest one called Kejetia. But market days are the days when almost all items are available since almost everyone comes to sell. As a result, it is usually the best day to go for shopping at the market.

Early in the morning, desks are normally empty and people are mostly not seen in the markets. They start trooping in around 10 a.m. and the place becomes busy by 12 p.m. By then, people would have stormed the place in their numbers looking for their respective items to purchase. I love to visit the market on market days since it's when prices are relatively lower as compared to ordinary days.

Tea with some toasted bread and fried egg

The day started just like any other day. I took my breakfast after fajr salat and freshening up. It was some tea with toasted bread and some fried eggs. Yes, I finally decided to fry some eggs to accompany my breakfast after a while now. I just missed this combination so much and I'm glad I chose to have it. A friend of mine recommended cheese for me which is good but that will just increase my fat intake and it won't be good for me.

It was then that my mom told me about the need to go to the market to purchase some items. The foodstuffs in the house were running low and we needed some extra ingredients before we could prepare today's meal. We needed to make some fufu. It seems like I'm not the knly one in the family who loves it, everyone does.

I was basically just passing time by doing a little reading and curation on the blockchain, waiting to leave for the market. It was finally time to go and I finally left the house. Upon reaching the market, it was not yet as busy as I presumed early on. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I arrived before the said 12 p.m.

I bought some yam here

I headed towards the desk of some fresh yam I saw. They looked real beautiful and they were going for a cook price. Yam price is very volatile. At times it shoots to the roof and sometimes it's relatively cheap. Today the price was quite moderate. I got a couple(4) tubers for Ghc 20 / 3.4 usd / 17.8 steem. This was more than what we needed for the fufu. I then went to buy some pepper, tomatoes and some meat which amounted to an extra Ghc 15 / 2.59 usd / 14.54 steem. All in all I got good deals today.

Fufu with wrewre soup

Once everything was set for preparation, the cooking began. I cannot get into the soup's details since I can't prepare it. But I was the one who did the pounding of the fufu. Tradition demands that we shouldn't let our females pound the fufu since it is quite tedious and as such it befalls on me to do it each time we need to pound it. There is a machine for doing so but the one in our vicinity is not well kept, as a result does not promote hygienic cooking. This is why we do it ourselves.

This concludes my diary for today. Thank you for your attention.
