Doors of Doom is a dungeon crawling game with RPG battles. The game is made by msx80.

In Doors of Doom you explore a dungeon with infinite number of doors and behind each door lies a monster. Doors requires keys to open. You start with 50 keys and you can buy more as you progress.

Doors! Doors everywhere!

Once you open a door a fight with the monster will ensue. It plays like a typical turn based battle game where you attack and use items until you defeat your opponent. After you beat the monster you get gold and items which can be used to buy and craft potions and items. The game features more than 23 monsters to fight and 40 items to collect/craft, I played the game for a while and have yet to see all of them. I think it's pretty decent amount for a game for TIC-80.

The undead wants you dead

Items in this game is what you expect from a fantasy RPG. You can use Potions to heal which doesn't require a full trun from you. Some items are equipable like shirts and fancy panties. And while some items are only useful for crafting, there are items with interesting effects like "Ectodrink" which described as "makes you ghostly" with the effect being that attacks are easy to miss you.

As you play you level up and gain score,
The game tells you when you achieve a new record score!

The art of this game isn't bad. I like the art style and some monsters are a joy to see though I feel most monsters can be drawn better. Another weak area of this game is the sound. There's no backgreound music and the sound effects are minimal. Doors of Doom compensates that with the content but I still feel it can improve on these aspects.

Well, it can serve as a shield

I'm surprised that the game doesnt have magic,
as that can make the battles more dynamic.

I liked the game for what it is. I love turn-based battle games and while Doors of Doom lacks depth in its battle system, it doesn't with its variety of monsters and items. I can see it needs many improvements but it's still fun as is.

What do you think?
