Some friends and I just spent a lovely weekend in Pranburi which is a district in the northern part of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, central Thailand. To get there from Bangkok is about a 3 and 1/2 hour drive.
While we were in Pranburi we visited an amazing place called Boutique Farms. Read on for details about this truly wonderful place.
Boutique Farms is owned and operated by an Englishman called James, who’s been living in Thailand for 22 years.
Before he moved to Thailand he was a chef and worked in a Michelin starred restaurant in London (Chelsea). One day he decided to take some time out to travel and ended up in Thailand, where he met a lovely Thai lady, got married and now has two kids.
James and his wife bought a plot of land (16,000 sqm) and started setting up a life living off the land doing what he does best. He and his wife have created this amazing organic farm with a small boutique B&B which has an amazing restaurant downstairs which seats 30 people. The restaurant is only open on a Friday / Saturday and Sunday evening.
James and his wife live pretty much off the grid, they grow everything organically (no chemicals or machinery, all by hand). It’s super impressive what one man and his wife have achieved here, money or fame doesn’t drive them - it’s all about the lifestyle, growing their own produce and James pursuing his passion for cooking amazing food.
It's not often you get a tour of the garden by the chef who's grown the food, before he cooks an awesome meal with the produce he’s just been showing you.
Everything on the farm is planted by hand and harvested by hand. No machinery is used only local labour, which helps provide jobs for more than 10 local people.
Here are just a small selection of photos from our Sunday brunch, I couldn’t take photos of everything as there were so many dishes. These were the shared appetisers before the main courses and desserts (yes plural!). All for the grand total of less than $30 per head, absolute steal at this price, wish we hadn’t had breakfast at the hotel - but somehow we made space for it all though!!
Everything was so amazingly fresh!
Pranburi is right on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand so they can get the absolute freshest of seafood.
Free range chicken slow cooked in a wood fired oven was so succulent, I don't think I've ever tasted chicken that was so good.
Some pictures now of the Restaurant which is under the house but open on two sides and surrounded by a beautiful lush garden.
I can't stress enough how lovely it is at Boutique Farms and how nice James and his wife are, but these photos will hopefully have given you at least some idea.
If you are in Thailand, you should definitely get down to Pranburi and visit this amazing place to enjoy some wonderful food. To find it here are a couple of maps.
