Diamond Head Beach Park. A quick tour guide

Aloha from Honolulu!

Today I'd like to share a very unassuming beach park with you from the island of Oahu. It's unassuming because the park is not an obvious sight as we are accustomed to as term of a park. Usually a park is a large space filled with trees, park benches and well-maintained trails or pavement made for the convenient and safety of visitors. However, this park is unique because it's cresting along a sleeping volcanic crater call Diamond Head and venture out into the face of an ocean front; divided by a one lane road.

As a guide to my visiting folks from around the world, I would like to gently take you on a quick tour with five parts of focus. First, I'd like to share a google map for location accuracy and a point of reference for your convenience. Second part is focus on the surface views should you decide to be an on-looker. Thirdly, a pathway down to the beach, should you desire to feed that sense of adventure within. Fourth, what this beach is best for. And finally, what I think this beach is not ideal for and why.

Location: This google map shows you where Diamond Head beach park is. So, to get there, come up along Diamond Head road from Kapiolani park. Once up the small hill you will look directly up to the Diamond Head lighthouse. Welcome! You are at the park! Go up about another 100 feet to find yourself a parking spot if you are driving.

If today, you want to be an on-looker, great! Please pull over and enjoy! Here are several gorgeous views you will encounter when looking around; admiring the gorgeous beauties while breathing in the clean salty air. Go ahead. Take a look around.

As I was walking along one morning, here are some beautiful capture of on-lookers and a man with son relaxing on the green grass enjoying the views. So sweet. So beautiful. So human.

On to the next. From here, I'd like to take you down a paved trail to the beach if you are in the mood for some more adventure and sight-seeing. Starting from a designated location of two temperamental water fountains that have yet to give me consistent water flow, we shall go down the trail to the beach side! Unfortunately, our summer has been very dry and humid. You can see that from the over-grown dry grass along the trail.

A nice little shower heads to rinse off the sea salty water before heading back up.

Finally, we are here at the beach. Today it's a perfectly normal 85 degree with an 18 mile per hour wind. What does that means? Well, I hate to admit it but this beach is very popular with surfers, kite-surfers, and wind-surfers, for the obvious reasons: strong currents and strong winds.

So, what do I think of this beach park for sun-bather/worshipers like myself? Well, when the wind is racing at 18 miles per hour, it's kinda hard not to eat sand or get slapped with a handful of it every now and then. On top of that, lets look at the ocean floor and land areas.

From these photos you can see that even at the ocean shallow area, rocks are everywhere. Rocks are beautiful, yes, but not very friendly to feet and to lay on. Yes, this beach is beautiful but the harsh wind combined with rocks makes for a not so ideal location for sun-bathers.

However, I managed to spot a cute doggy wagging its' tail up in the highs.

And there you have it friends; Diamond Head Beach Park. I hope I was helpful with its' location and if it's suitable for you to spend some time on the green grass above or venture straight down to the beach below.

Thank you for stopping by. And as always, have a wonder day, until we meet again. Much mahalo.

Aloha.

So beautiful! Love that paved trail :)
For me rocks are ok as long as the place is beautiful enough 😁

Hi Anna! Me too but I think the strong wind did me in. Have you ever been slapped by a handful of sand in strong winds?! Lol, it was very uncomfortable.

Thank you for stopping by my dear. Aloha!

Wow, no, that hasn't happened to me yet 😆 but I was slapped in the face by a huge locust when I was admiring view from a cliff once 😂

Lol! I love your sense of humor.

85 Celcius? That's 185 Fahrenheit, almost boiling water! I know it's hot near those volcanoes, but ... (yes I realize it's a typo, I'm attempting to add humor :) ).

Great pictures!

Lol! Sorry, 85*F! Thank u for that! Yes, totally funny!

Hahah, I noticed this too! You can always edit that up later :)

I miss Hawaii every time I read your posts, but love the insights!

Hehe. I was gonna edit it but that would take away from her funny comment. I'll do it in a couple of days.

Thank you. I'm still so glad I left San Francisco 17 years ago. Would love to eventually venture out to other exotic places. I can't wait to revisit Cusco, Peru this October. Aloha

Thanks! Just curious, what made you think I was female -- I'm not. :)

Oh my. I'm in hot water again! I'm so sorry about that. 😩😁😁
