World's Largest Pistachio

in travel •  6 years ago

Our recent road trip took us pass many interesting, beautiful, and important places. One sight unlike any other though, was this strange roadside attraction we happened upon.

We tend to pass on tacky tourist traps when travelling, but The World’s Largest Pistachio managed to suck us in out of its sheer weirdness. We were hoping that we would be seeing an anomaly of nature, truly the largest pistachio to have grown on a tree. This is not that, this is a giant 30 foot high pistachio statue, man made. This one of a kind nut sculpture was actually blessed by a priest from a neighboring church.

McGinn’s Pistachio Tree Farm in northern Alamogordo, New Mexico has more to offer than this giant nut. It is also a place to stop and get a few scoops of pistachio ice cream or taste a few of their wines.
