Once you got off the speed boat, you will see an ancient light house next to the pier. I suggest you take a walk up to get a a elevated view of the surrounding. Next to the light house is a gas station, so if you plan to rent a motorcycle, it's where you will refill the gas.
The primary ethnic group on Orchid Island is Yami people. There aren't many of them left, about 5000, as young generation goes to Taiwan for better jobs. There are six primary tribes on the island, Iraralay, Iranmeilek, Imorod, Iratay, and Yayo. The hostel I'll be staying is at Iraralay, on the northern shore.
The hostel is right in front of a even smaller pier. There are many small pier around the island because fishing is Yami people's primary source of food. I fell in love with the tiny village right away. It has a small elementary school, couple grocery stores and hostel; other than that, it's mostly the local people.
The shore at Iraralay has a very beautiful shape, like a horseshoe. There are couple indigenous fishing boat, famous for their shape and color. The village is very quiet, with warm breeze, I swear I could stay here and day dream the whole day.

蘭嶼上主要居民是達悟族，他們長年捕魚依海為生．島上人口大約有五千人，不過大多是老人跟小孩．跟許多鄉村一樣，年輕人都到都市找工作了．島上主要有六個部落：朗島，東清，野銀，紅頭，漁人，跟椰油．我待的是一個朗島民宿．主要是因為聽說主人的風味菜煮的特別好吃．😋
騎車到朗島村，路上除了一兩家餐廳，一間小學，基本上就是山坡與海．我的民宿在朗島村的小港口正對面．這個港口形狀特別漂亮，勾起來像個馬蹄鐵．在灣邊的砂石上隨意的停了兩三艘蘭嶼特有的，顏色鮮豔的划槳小魚船．港區特別安靜，只有一些老人在發呆亭乘涼．這真的是一個特別適合放空跟療傷（咦？）的地方
