Turkish coffee, also known as Arabian coffee, is the ancestor of European coffee. It has been born for seven or eight hundred years.

Turkish coffee customs
(1) A good coffee makes a good girl
Coffee was introduced into Turkey in the 16th century, using the original cooking method, which is still popular in Greece, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and North Africa. Turkish coffee uses deeply roasted coffee beans, which are then ground as fine as flour and boiled directly in a copper or brass pot called "Erik" (now there are also stainless steel pots) until boiling, then turn off the fire and pour them all into the cup. Cardamom, anise and sugar can be added during cooking according to personal preferences, but milk is generally not added. When making coffee, there will be a layer of dark brown foam on the surface.
It is said that in ancient times, when a man came to propose marriage, the woman would investigate the coffee making skills of the suitor. If she could not make this layer of dark brown foam, it means that the man's ability was not enough. However, in today's Turkey, drinking tea is the mainstream, and this vulgar custom is estimated to have ceased to exist. It is also said that the woman invites the man to drink coffee. If sugar is added, she agrees to the man's proposal; If salt is added, it means disagreement; If the man insists on marrying the woman, drink up the coffee anyway.
After boiling, most of the coffee powder will precipitate at the bottom, but guests can still drink some coffee powder when tasting. The taste of Turkish coffee can be divided into three types: completely sugar free bitter taste (sketchos), slightly sweet taste (metrio) with one teaspoon of sugar and sweet taste (glykos) with 1.5 teaspoon of sugar. Before drinking Turkish coffee, you'd better take a sip of ice water to fully release the sensitivity of taste buds, and then you can slowly taste the different customs of Turkish coffee.

(2) Never drink water after drinking coffee
In Turkey, inviting guests to have coffee at their home represents the great sincerity of the host. When we are invited to a local home for coffee, we must remember to praise the mellow and delicious coffee. In addition, after drinking coffee, you can't drink water even if your mouth is full of slag, because drinking water after drinking coffee implies that the coffee is not good to drink and will hurt the feelings of the host.

(3) Coffee fortune telling
The more ancient the country is, the more divine it is. Greece and Turkey have different religions and languages, but I don't know why. They not only use the same instrument for making coffee, but also use the same method for fortune telling. The steps are as follows:
① When drinking coffee, consider the questions you want to ask and leave some coffee at the bottom of the cup.
② Gently shake the cup and turn it counterclockwise three times.
③ Put the cup cover on the cup, carefully turn it upside down and let it stand for a while, waiting for the temperature at the bottom of the cup to cool down.
④ Open the cup and divine the patterns left on the cup cover
If the pattern is heart-shaped, it represents that love is coming; If it is a bird, there will be some unexpected surprises; If it's a rectangle, it means wealth comes

Finally, after divination, you can also use the coffee liquid in the coffee plate to judge when the wish comes true. The method is: first recite one or three wishes in your mind, then stand the plate up and let some residual coffee liquid flow down the plate; The first flow of water represents the first wish, the second flow represents the second wish, and so on. If the trace of the water flow is very long, even to the other side of the plate, it means that it will take a long time for the wish to come true. If there is no flow, it means that the wish will not come true for the time being. I don't think the accuracy of fortune telling with this method will be too high. The first pattern will test the diviner's eyesight. What if the four dissimilarities can't be recognized alive and dead. In addition, there are too many subjective factors - if I want to realize my wish quickly, I'll leave more coffee, stand the plate more vertically, and make use of gravity. Doesn't it flow faster? But then again, if a young man wants to please a girl, coffee divination is simple and fun.
