“The universe is a pretty big place. If it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space.” ― Carl Sagan (1934–1996).

Carl Sagan was probably the most well-known scientist and astronomer of the 1970s and 1980s. He studied extraterrestrial intelligence, advocated for nuclear disarmament, and co-wrote and hosted "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage".

Astronomer, educator and author, Sagan was perhaps the world's greatest popularizer of science, reaching millions of people through newspapers, magazines and television broadcasts. He is well-known for his work on the PBS series Cosmos, the Emmy- and Peabody-award-winning show that became the most watched series in public-television history.

His best known scientific contributions is research on extraterrestrial life, including experimental demonstration of the production of amino acids from basic chemicals by radiation.
