Dysfunctional Ulog

Yeah, mockery pisses me off to no end. It's so ableist. If you are healthy and can eat whatever you want? Great. Not everyone has that luxury. And just because someone is trying different diets and doesn't necessarily have an allergy, generally speaking if they are desperately trying different programs, it's because something is wrong and they are trying to fix it. I was diagnosed with "IBS" for many, many years before I had the allergy testing done; if they had just tested me for allergies then, they might have saved me from years of suffering, because 90% of those symptoms went away when I started avoiding my allergens. That's kinda why I hate the "IBS" diagnosis - it's like anything with "idiopathic" in front of it: "Yep, you have a problem, but we don't know why! ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯ " Like maybe run some tests, doctor...
But I digress. ;)
When I had the coconut flour it lasted me ages, but I was mixing it up with almond and flax at the time. Nowadays I could mix it with the all purpose and white rice. That's what I do with the white rice flour now, and I also use it as breading for things like chicken by itself. It tastes pretty good like that! Coconut flour did, too - I remember trying it that way as well. I use the oil a lot now, too - as really the only oils I can use are coconut or olive. I use coconut for any baking recipes that want shortening and it works really well for that; depending on what I have on hand I also interchange it with butter (like right now, I'm out of coconut oil but I have butter, but more commonly I'll have run out of butter and use coconut oil, lol). A big jar costs me about $7 for that too - or at least, on sale it does, and I usually wait for a sale.

I was 'diagnosed' three times with different stomach conditions that ended up being wrong before I finally realized doctors were just grasping at straws and I was on my own. Well...I knew that before with the chronic pain but somehow managed to hold onto some deniability with the next major condition. Most IBS like symptoms can be managed with diet...but unfortunately the road to finding out those triggers is a long one. Coconut flour seems to be the same price here but the oil is almost $30 and the milk $3 per can! Anyway...if you ever want to chat about anything...I have Partiko installed which has a neat messenger button on the bottom and push notifications just like text messaging. <3

HOLY CRAP that's absurd, $30! Where are you living, again? 😮

Hahaha...small rural town in BC...that sorta explains it. We have a health food store but they mark it up even more. I have empathy for small businesses but it's hard when you just really can't afford to support them. Buying online is also tricky when you can't afford the minimum order just to get the free shipping! Hope your day was good. <3

What about getting it off Amazon? Here the price on Amazon is good, but .ca might be different.

I ordered off amazon once...and didn't enjoy that experience. Giving it another chance seems like a good solution! <3

Yeah, normally I'm rather anti- shopping at behemoths if it can be helped, but sometimes it's the only decent option now. And though I have successfully boycotted Walmart for years, I get paid by selling my book on Amazon, and doing work on Amazon MTurk, and can keep a wish list of groceries and cat food there so if people ask me that they want to send me a present, what do I need - they can see the exact allergy-safe cat food or allergy-safe people food that would really help me out. It's easy too if someone gives me a gift card for my birthday or when I earn gift cards from certain survey and shopping apps, to go with Amazon for the same reason - I can order practical, grocery things as well as fun things. It's pretty difficult to boycott them nowadays!

I have been avoiding surveys that give out amazon gift cards as rewards because the pop ups stress me out...and they seem scammy. I don't like my email inbox constantly filling up with random junk either. Before changing my diet around...shopping on amazon always seemed too restrictive or like it would be hard finding anything really useful. The fur baby has lots of toys...lol. This seems to have changed now and the prices for coconut stuff even in canada appears a lot more affordable than local. But I also can't buy anything with the last money left on hand till end of next month and risk getting another goof up order. Waiting for them to get around to refunding or fixing the order could spell disaster. In this way using only gift cards could be a bit of a lifesaver because I wouldn't be any worse off. I have always been cautious buying staple groceries online because of how terribly unpredictable shipping almost always is going to small towns. I have lived in a lot of them and the struggle is real. On top of that...the way our postal service has been acting up for the last few months...I would have starved to death ordering online. I even had something ordered via walmart trapped for three months in a warehouse thirty minutes away and they never did find it. That was during the strike though. Still interested in trying out more shopping apps though...just in case I figure out a system that works. Amazon would be nice as long as it does not get lost after they hand it over to the carrier. Do you know about swag bucks being any good? Two people recommended it again lately and I am still wondering how much work is involved...and how applicable the products are to my lifestyle. I started the neilson on last month because you aren't restricted to what products you want to buy that actually qualify...and it's supposed to reward four weeks of scanning barcodes at home with $15 prepaid visa. And also they automatically enter you in draws for higher valued prepaid visas. Still waiting to see how legit that one is.... :D

I haven't done swag bucks or Neilsen, but I've heard some of the couponers I follow talk about Neilsen on their blog before. I get gift cards from Shopkick and Fetch Rewards, both apps on my phone. Survey Monkey Rewards pays cash, and ibotta (US only, I think) pays cash, and Checkout 51 pays cash. I have referral codes for those too if you're interested!
