Happy are those new dialysis patients, they had not experienced the burden of not getting an adequate amount of treatment session like wider gaps between dialysis days.

My dialysis session yesterday got botched, at least partially because of blood clotting and also the blood leak that happened to my dialyzer. It was maybe the second time that I encountered it from what I recall and the possible cause was the reuse of the dialyzer because it is the most costly part of dialysis and almost no one can really afford it when you buy a new one each and everytime you are hooked-up at dialysis at least two times per week where now I am getting dialyzed three times a week.

It is because of the enhanced health insurance care for our sector where we are given more than enough sessions per week and it is really a great help because of the advocacy of Kidney disease groups of patients particularly those that are undergoing dialysis to politicians which took heed of the request for dialysis patients to be granted with additional sessions for Philhealth members which most citizens have in my country. Moreover, patients with disability ID card is exempted to pay premium because it is a privilege given to them by the national government. However I am paying for my own because I can pay but mother says that she will inquire if I will be exempted or should I fill a form for it to be activated for me so that I will no longer pay and use the money saved for something else that I needed.

The privileges that we were given by the national government plus this recent additional sessions per year is truly a grace from God which I thank a million times over for the reason that it had eased a lot of heartache, worries, tribulation, torture, and death to many dialysis patients here in my country

You can't imagine the happiness that I felt after learning about the news for granting dialysis patients in my country a total of 156 sessions per year although it has consequences regarding the extra

I am hopeful that in the near future the Philhealth will also grant us at least two dialyzers per month because of the heavy cost of high flux dialyzers where I have to pay partial and then fully fully when I needed to replace the old dialyzer with a new one. I will only pay partially when getting a new dialyzer every month because every month we are given one dialyzer included in every month but they only give the low flux types of dialyzer. If I want to opt-in for a high-flux then I have to pay one thousand pesos. It will only last for about to weeks or so because of my frequency of getting dialysis treatment.

Providing a better health care to citizens will rehabilitate them and would essentially make them contribute to the country's economy which is true for the sake of building a better nation.

Although high flux dialyzers are expensive I still wan tot use it because it allows more solutes and bigger molecule substances like uric acid to get washed out from my body. However, the downside was to make you more susceptible from water-borne chemicals which can easily make you ill.

So when it is time within that month to replace a dialyzer again, I will have to pay the full amount of cost for another high-flux dialyzer which will cost me an exact amount of PhP2,200. It is quite an expense which is a considerable hefty amount that I want myself freed from buying it over and over because of course it adds pressure to my pockets which is now getting more shallow because of this compromise of getting a more frequent treatment sessions which in the other hand I really needed to get more relief from being waterlogged ,breathing difficulty, plus blood pressure issues originating from fluid imbalance caused by inadequate dialysis frequency.

I hope that more grants would come from Philhealth like giving us an additional dialyzer to get included and it will surely help many patients to opt-in for a frequent session without an extra worry to buy additional dialyzer per month because many chooses to get only two sessions per week to avoid the cost of replacing dialyzers more frequently.
