Roman is getting a new air vent. Pt 2

in vanlife •  6 years ago  (edited)

As you may have seen in my previous post about Roman my motorhome I am fitting a new air vent.

This photo is of the new vent sitting on top of the Roman to see how much metal I need to remove to fit it in. As the new vent has square corners and the old one had curved corners.

After removing the required metal I then painted on some rust protection in all the old screw holes and where I had cut out the metal.

As the vent was to low in the van for me to walk underneath I needed to make up some spacer's to lift it up higher on top of the roof.

Here you can see the fake wood I marked out and cut up to make the spacers. This fake wood is designed for decking etc and to stand up to the harsh weather elements so will be perfect for this application.

Here the spacers are clamped onto the vent while the sealant/adhesive sets.

Part 3 tomorrow as partiko app played up and lost some of my post.

I got two in the roof a my little van. Love 'em! I did a post about it. Why You Need 2 Roof Vent Fans on Your Van

Posted using Partiko Android

I had a read of your article about two vent fans. I can see for a lot of vans two would be very useful. So far with testing out my single fan I believe one will be enough in my van. As I have air vents in the front that I can open close and direct the air coming in and I have multiple opening windows that have screens and some with security screens as well. So I am able to have air flowing in or out or many multiple areas of my bus.

That'll do it. I don't have the extra vents and such.
