Every statist considers themselves a minarchist though.
Everyone believes the state should only do those things they think are necessary.

Every?

I've never met somebody who believes the state should do unnecessary things.

I completely agree with you, why have enemies when you can have friends? :)

I believe that if there is a choice, the choice should be freedom. I think this aligns many positions of minarchists, libertarians and anarchists.

This doesn't resolve a different issue. As an anarchist I see government as a damage machine. Statism is producing a very large damage machine with many weaknesses.

My interests are aligned with annihilating this larger damage machine.

Minarchism will produce a much smaller damage machine, but whoever is being harmed is still being harmed. There is also no guarantee that just because the size of the damage machine has been reduced, that the durability will be equal to or less than the bigger machine.

There is the very real possibility that the smaller one becomes more entrenched.

Even a small government is a social construct and is completely at risk of being infiltrated by socialism and turned into something very harmful, so creating anything in that direction is not in my interest.

Howdie!
