Cheetah

These are very rare in the Kalahari, we were lucky enough to see this family resting in the shade on a long game drive in The Kgalagadie Treansfrontier National Park in South Africa. The estimated number of Cheetah in the park is fewer than 100.

Another unusual sighting in the Kalahari Desert is Giraffe. These are more associated with the Savanna lands. These Giraffe have adapted to Desert life. We saw these on our drive to Mata Mata Camp in the Kgalagadie Treansfrontier National Park in South Africa. Numbers in the park are fewer than 50. The original herd was brought in here from the Etosha National Park in Namiba. Historically Giraffe were found in this area but before the National Park was proclaimed in 1931 the local population of Giraffe had been hunted out.

Always Great to see our Local Wildlife , Thank you.

South Africa truly is blessed with beautiful wildlife. If only it were better maintained. Thank you.
