Canon Camera.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I'm just being a jerk with a fun little call back to this and this.

The difference is, of course that instead of a photo of a magazine of a camera, THIS IS MY ACTUAL CAMERA!

I have to thank Steem Bestie @skiesandsports for this absolutely incredible post which made me think all the thoughts about getting me back into Photography. He helped me decide which camera would be best for me... and totally talked me down off the ledge when I had accidentally purchased a Sigma lens for a Sigma camera and couldn't work out how to attach it.

@mstafford and @caitycat have also been absolutely smashing me with photographic awesomeness and just generally supportive and kind words. If you haven't checked them out, please do, you probably won't regret it.

I also need to thank @yumyumseth who told me about a super cheap 75mm to 300mm lens to help round out my kit. I feel like I'm photographically ready to take on the Grand Canyon in early Feb.

@aweber also totally inspired me to look into starscape photos which I am really, really excited about, especially since our place is so far from the city.... except... rain in Portland, who woulda thunk it?

These two lads have gotten together with all round supportive and super friendly @cryptoctopus to create @photofeed which I am really excited about. It basically curates great photos... and the photos highlighted so far have been stunning. This (if I'm good enough) will also help me transition into a full time Steemazoid in the second half of this year. I'm definitely inspired to get shooting again, and no amount of thanks will be enough for the creative improvement in my life you've all brought me thus far.

STOP WITH THE WORDS AND PHOTO US ALREADY !

Here you go cranky... this is literally the first photo I've taken with my new camera...

It's not even really in focus, and that plant is in the way, and I used the cheap lens... but look at that guy being all weird and stare-y... although in his defense I never asked his permission to take his photo... and we all know how deer-celebrities feel about the papp.

Anyway, bit of a nothing post, but I'm just super excited about the photographic world opening up to a dude again.

It's a ninja deer! Hard to spot one out of the shadows, great pic.. ;)

Hahaha, he likes to hang out with my ninja upgoats in my footer!

Excited to see what kind of creative mojo you manage to conjure up with your renewed enthusiasm. I love coming back to an old hobby after a bit of a break... It's interesting to see what things you forgot you new, and the old habits you remembered to forget.

Your post the other week showcasing some of your photos was super impressive. Round 2, comin' atcha.

Thanks Mark!
So, ah, don't forget that those photos were taken over 7ish years with a couple of thousand dollars in gear and studio lights... so ah, maybe don't expect too much.

That said, I'm super super pumped just to take photos for fun... without that commercial edge to it... if it's just not working for me one day, totally no problem, no one is going to be mad at me.

The gear has changed so much in the last 2 years... luckily it feels like everything is cheaper and better (obviously how it should be, but y'know) so I really am super excited.

Huzzah! I've never been so excited for someone else I've never met to get a camera!

Hahahaha, we've never met... but we interact more than I do with most of my IRL friends. I got texts I should really reply to... but, ah, after I finish on Steem....

4 hours later

Haha, I feel you. It's really addicting. Right now I should be editing photos for a client, but..that takes work and this is making money in a way, right? :)

LOL,, its a cannon camera... :)

Hahaha, we just lugged it up a mountain... it definitely feels like a cannon.

Somehow I missed this post! That deer is not too shabby for a first shot ;) Excited to see your sweet future shots!

Hahahaha, that's literally exactly what I was going for.... if I'm being totally honest, not too shabby is always what I'm aiming for.

You know this shoot wouldn't have existed without you yeah? I had no idea (eye deer ?) you could ever get a 300mm so cheaply.

Thanks so much for backtracking and laying down some commenting goodness. Really appreciate it and really, really excited about my camera.

Way to set the bar high! lolol

What a weird feeling to have some dude in Oregon taking pictures with a lens that I recommend. Steemit is the coolest! Also, hell of a pun, very high quality stuff.

You betcha dude! I'm excited about your camera too!

Looking forward to seeing your snaps! Good choice with the Canon ;)

Thanks dude! You've also been really inspirational to get me back into it. Your shot of Flinders St in your Intro post was so good. I'd really love to take something like that over here.

Your "not that great" photo is like, better than anything I have ever taken...of wildlife anyway. I can do people much better. Especially kids, I am so good at kids photos and babies, but older people and nature..nope nope nope! I look forward to seeing much more photography!!

Hahaha, in my defence, this camera did all the heavy lifting... I literally just set it to Auto mode and stepped out the front door.

I am so bad with kids and babies... I just can't time it right and they look like monsters in all of my shots.

I love how the first photo you took was of a deer, just showing off now aren't you!

I mean... maybe a little.
I was honestly waiting to go hiking to take my first shot for my blog, but then I saw these dudes wandering around outside and I had to stalk them for a shot. I still get excited whenever I see them, and I was super rapt that I was annoying enough for it to look at me... most of the photos I get of them are just their backsides as their eating. Not so great.

Haha "these dudes". I love deer too, always shout out DEER from the car when we go past one! They are so curious so sometimes they don't get too afraid and you can get quite close, great shot though, hope your enjoying your camera!

Yes!! Welcome to the 6d club buddy! Can’t wait to see what you get with this, I’m excited for you and it’s not even me that’s getting new gear! Although I may have to get that 75-300, looks like such a great value lens!

$75 USD from Amazon. That is insane value!
This photo above was grainy as well... but still... I'd much rather have the shot that not... and the lens is super light, so it feels like an absolute no brainer to have in the back.

I'm super crazy excited too... Thanks so much for all your help, I really super appreciate it!

That is such a steal, ridiculous! You're right, that and the 50mm 1.8 are so cheap you just might as well have them!! No worries dude, been awesome to see your enthusiasm for all of this!

Oh yay! Your deer dog! How exciting about your new camera :)

I know.... it's literally the most perfect first pic to take. I love these guys so much even if they won't acro with me.

YYYYEEEEEEAAAAA BOOOIIIII!
This is very exciting. Get shooting!

It is! I am! I have!

OMG, it so good.... I've started the super weird reaction of giggling when the camera produces beautiful depth of field without me even trying. It is so exciting! I forgot how much I like a good image... although you had a massive hand in reminding me... especially that post about the dress. Amazing.

Photograp of deer reveals that your new camera is amazing. I love to buy new lens for my nikon d5300. But i donot know which one to buy either i will go with 55-200 mm or 75 - 300 mm

It is so amazing!

I think the 75-300mm would be the better purchase... that extra reach with the zoom lens is just so handy. I really don't think you'd regret it at all!
