The day has come for the Qurator Project to step up its game. We are proud to announce we have set up a witness and will be playing a bigger role in the Steemit community.
What exactly is the Qurator Project?
Let's start with some background first.
The Project was started about 6 months ago by @scrooger and @gingerninja. The initial idea was to offer constant support to all the Steemit users who post original and quality content. The Project started small, with only a few members. In a few weeks, the Project started to really blossom into a full-fledged steemit support system that focuses on new members, minnows, and older steemit users.
Fast forward to 6 months later we now have over 1200 members who have all been manually reviewed and approved to take part in the Project. We pride ourselves on only accepting members who post original content. We have several moderators who review accounts and only when we see correct image sourcing and zero plagiarism, will we accept the new members. With growth and time, we have brought the hammer down and become quite strict with approvals. We also have systems in place to monitor older members to make sure they are keeping up with quality content.
What does Qurator do?
We focus on users who post quality/original content. Each day 5 members will be selected and their posts will be featured in the Daily Qurator.
Once a day we will resteem 2 posts from our members.
Members will get an upvote from @qurator once a day. We are limiting upvotes to once a day because we want to keep it fair for all the members. Since some post more than others. The bot can only upvote you once every 24 hours.
Extra trail upvotes from our SteemAuto trail @qurator. We provide a guide on How to use SteemAuto
Weekly Food and Photography competitions.

- Qurator exclusive pay4vote support bot, @qustodian. Great for members and investors.

Investors who delegate to @qustodian get paid 90% of all the SBD sent to @qustodian every 24 hours.
What goes on behind the scenes of Qurator?
We are a small team of eight who are running the Project. We all work together and each plays a role in making sure the Project runs as smooth as possible. We have an active Discord server where we help members with any Steemit related questions they might have. We offer editing, image sourcing, writing and general Steemit support. Constantly trying to motivate our members to be the best Steemit bloggers they can be.
@scrooger - Creator of Qurator, handles the posts, and funding the witness.
@goldendawne - Writer/moderator - manually selects posts from our members and write about them in our Daily Qurator.
@boontjie - Bot coding for @qurator and @qustodian
@ewkaw - Discord manager and moderator
@ackhoo - Moderator
@brumest - Moderator
@stresskiller - Moderator
@aaronleang - Moderator - Graphics
Once a member applies to join Qurator we take the account and the team manually evaluates it. Once a unanimous decision has been reached we either approve or deny the account. Once approved the member can expect daily upvotes from Qurator. If denied they are more than welcome to come and have a chat with us about why they did not get approved. We have had many members who have come to us for guidance and help. We help them with correct sourcing and better blogging, and in the 2nd round they were approved.
Why did we decide to become a witness?
We are growing in numbers and even though many members have been so kind to delegate Steem Power to Qurator the demand is just too high and expensive for us to support everyone. All our SBD goes towards leases and I (@scrooger) have personally sent over a lot of Steem to help cover the leases and keep our SP high enough to support all our members. With extra SP we will be able to delegate to other steemit projects and offer some mutual support. We have many on our radar and will be delegating our SP to them as we grow. We will always be supporting those who try to make a difference on steemit.
We are a community project and most of our upvotes/support come from our members. Mostly minnows or new users that do not always have a lot of SP. Their upvotes are greatly appreciated and we love them for it, the more the members support us the more we can return the favor and offer better support.
While we do not see a lot of whale support we are grateful to everyone who supports the Project. (Special thanks to @alexis555, @redes, newhope, @ripperone, @simnrodrguez and @mangos who have been some of our biggest upvoters.) For those who would like to delegate or upvote the Qurator Project, it will help us a lot and will really go a long way in helping the Project to support more members.
There is no "I" in Team
We are a community project and that means we are only as strong as the community makes us. Each upvote, each delegation and every bit of support that we get we use to give back to our members. ALL our SBD goes towards our members in the form of delegation leasing and then upvotes. The more member support we get the better we can support our members.
Qurator has seen some great growth over the last few weeks and we have no one to thank except our members. You guys are the rockstars and you are the ones making Steemit a better place for those who really need the extra exposure and upvotes. Thank you.
With that being said. The witness will be up and running and the Project will really appreciate it if you could consider us for one of your witness votes. It will go a long way in helping our community grow.
The Qurator Project will keep improving!
We always listen to our members and we will keep improving our service and offer all the support we can to all our members. Being it through upvotes, competitions or the advice on Discord. We are here for all of you who post your heart out and need the recognition and upvotes you deserve!
Our witness server specs:
64 GB RAM
Intel i7 CPU
2x240 GB SSD
1gbit/s network
Starting small and once we get multiple blocks a day we will look at a backup witness server.

You got my vote!
@qurator is one of the very few projects here on Steemit that fairly rewards everyone who works on creating good and original content, so of course I'm going to support you as a witness :)

Congratulations to @scrooger and team for this new step that you have taken. I will definitely support you guys. The first time when I interacted with @scrooger, I had lots of hopes on your project. You have been wonderful supporting people with quality and original contents in steemit.
I'm happy to vote Quorator as witness.

Our team have been slowly evaluating the witnesses we choose to support. As a member, I know already that Qurator has the community at heart. It can be very disheartening to write a post and not be recognized for the effort. I've voted curie as a witness because they support authors that produce quality content, but may otherwise go unnoticed.
My support will also be for Qurator because you too have shown community support is of importance on this platform.
My team is part of the #newbieresteemday initiative. We've recently had our newbies ask us about witnesses and whom they should vote for. A member of my team @mellofello will be doing a Q&A session with several witnesses to find out about the 'person' or 'team' behind the witness. Please let me know if you would be interested in interviewing with @mellofello.
So far, he has reached out to Tim Cliff and yabapmatt.

Hi guys,
Could someone explain why Tier 2 has dropped from 1.25% to 1.1% ($0.21 to $0.15)? I haven't been able to find anything on why this change was made... it affects a huge number of your customers and really adds up over time.
Thanks!

Sorry... found the explanatory text in the last e-mail. I'm totally not a math guy, but how does the price of Steem affect your ability to produce Steem? Are you talking about the STEEM/USD pairing or the STEEM/SBD pairing?

The higher the SBD price. The higher a upvote is worth on Steemit. So recently it has dropped between 30 to 50 pct. Reducing upvote value

The SBD STEEM pair. With SBD and STEEM now almost the same we do not get as much steem as we used to. We sell all our SBD for steem and that way we get leases from the @minnowbooster market.

Ah, thank you for that. It's been pretty confusing how the system reacts to the Steem/SBD pairing... and I wasn't sure how a Steem/USD would affect it since it should be it's own little eco-system. Thanks for being so transparent about all of this, it really means a lot!
Thanks again!!

I am more than happy to vote for @qurator as one of my witnesses!! The work being done by this group to ensure "quality control" is like none other I've seen here. I applied to be a member and just got accepted, although it was my second kick at the can;); I was thankful for the tips to improve, specifically surrounding image sourcing, and all is well now. Thank you for that and thank you for taking the care and attention you do; @qurator will be a great witness in my eyes!!

@qurator:
I have a question about the daily bot upvote. You say "The bot can only upvote you once every 24 hours." but what exactly does this mean?
Does it mean that regardless of time and date there have to be AT LEAST 24 hours between posts to trigger the upvote successfully?
Or does it mean that the bot only upvotes once per calender day? If so at what time does it "reset"? Many times I have posted on two separate calender days (adding up to not more than 2 posts in 48 hours) just to find out I "only" got one upvote instead of two. In those cases - while another day had started - there was "only" 22 hours between posts. Which effectively means that if we want to get qurator's support, we are "forced" to post at the same time every day plus X, or to miss out on votes regularly as the gap times between posts add up so that a day is "lost" by the end of the week if the gaps become larger than 24 hours.
Can you answer this for me? I do my best to upvote you 7+ days a week, but often end up with 'merely' 5 upvotes in return. I am not complaining here, just would love some concrete answer to this to maximize the effectiveness in using qurator's services and for transparency. I could imagine many users have similar questions.
Thanks for all you do for the community, and congrats on the witness situation. You do promote quality content and for that I feel really grateful in times of junk posts seemingly everywhere.
Much love!

Hi @paradigmprospect
Good question. Our old bot upvoted NEW posts only after it has been 24 hours since your last upvote. Thus if you had 2 posts in 24 hours, only 1 would get upvoted. There was a little trick for getting that 2nd post upvoted. If 24 hours after your previous upvote you could edit/update your post and it would ping the bot. Thus, you get your 2nd upvote. This is all old bot stuff though.
Our new and improved bot constantly cycles through all the members. It does take a little while to run through all the members but it is a lot better and more stable than the old bot.
Let's say you post 2 posts within 24 hours then the bot will upvote the 1st post. After 24 hours it will know you are due for another vote. It will then actively go and look for your most recent post and go upvote it. So the only delay there might be will be the bot cycling through the members. Each member take a second or 2 to check.
So in theory, you could post 3 posts in one day and then not post for a week. The upvotes will go out to all 3 posts. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have more questions. =)
