Question on Witness Audit Tool

in witness •  5 years ago

For some time now I have not audited my list of witness votes.

This is a task that I consider very important within the few that every good steemian should do from time to time.

Each steem account can vote for up to 30 witnesses, so, as you can understand, in a certain manner, it is our duty as well as our right as steemians to vote for witnesses which have contrasted solvency working as so, if we want to ensure the good stability and performance of the STEEM Blockchain.

But the truth is that I don't remember the last time I've done it...

I think it was before HF21/22.

In fact, I miss a tool that helped me a lot in the past.

This tool, called DUPLIBOT and created by @deadwitnesses, helped me in order to interpret which witnesses did their job well.

The criteria I chose on which witnesses to vote was based not only on the fact of keeping the blockchain stable by signing blocks regularly and updating their feed price as well as the blockchain code whenever necessary but also, assessing the activity of those witnesses, so, for instance, if they used their Steem Power correctly, upvoting regularly, if they regularly wrote a post and participated in comments within the community.

In order to check these points, DUPLIBOT was extremely useful. I could extract exactly the information I wanted as for instance the following:

Now, this utility has stopped working so the management of the witness list audit has become a very difficult and manual task.

If I used to audit my witnesses once a week, today is impossible.

Tools as the following can help in determine the efficiency of the witness nodes but I miss information that is relevant for me as if they post or upvote regularly:

https://steem.arcange.eu/witnesses/
https://steemian.info/witnesses

@quochuy used to post a weekly report of the witness earnings which I appreciate so much, including some information about posts and comments done by the witness but still upvotes are not part of the information provided.

Anyone knowing what tool is best to check for witnesses activity?

*Reminder: if you feel like not having time to do a proper analysis and still think that mine is fair , you can also choose me as your proxy that will vote for witnesses for you.

Just, keep using your witness votes doing an important work.

@witnesspage is a place where you can check all the posts by witnesses with one of the following tags:

#witness-update
#witness-category
and or
#witness

Not that there are many updates out there, but they are all available in one place since last year when I got this little service up and running.

Cheers.

Yes, I know there is this account resteeming all the witness posts but I am more interested to know if they are active and engaging with the whole steemsphere, not only reporting witness information.

A few minutes ago I checked my witness votes and took back quite a few. Most of them because they were not active anymore. I am having available votes left now and probably tomorrow I will put my votes on nine trustworthy witnesses. Will get some inspiration from your list for sure.

Wait, my list needs some review still. I am doing it manually but soon I will update it.
