We want to be a productive employee who is a star among all others. For that, we work hard, and despite working hard, we sometimes don’t get appreciation from our boss and higher authorities. This may be due to some little mistakes and lack of few tips that are associated with your growth in the company. Some tips that helped me to thrive are given below.

A simple yet essential is getting feedback about your work.

You may work hard, and you think you are the best employee of all the time. However, you may consider taking feedback from a concerning person to know whether you should improve in any specific areas. You may think you are the best at technical stuff. But remember, you may lack in communication skills and social skills. You may get some feedback that is essential to you to flourish in your company. Feedback facilitates you to know your negatives and gives you an opportunity to learn from your mistakes. Remember no one is perfect. If you get some negative feedback take it as an opportunity to grow.

Set a Goal; if you are committed to handing in, you should deliver it without any late

Many people sometimes misunderstand this. They will be so enthusiastic to take a project, and they may end up in delivering the project little late. I used to be so enthusiastic, and I would tell my boss that I would need only a few days to complete the given project. In order to accomplish my task, I used to work hard even during after working hours. This type of thinking may help some people, but I will not recommend as they lead to many errors in the project as well as it results in spoiled health. Instead, take advantage of time, and set realistic goals. Therefore, you will be able to hand in the project without any errors, and you will get more time to relax in between.

Don’t indulge in gossiping, instead be an active solution maker

You get some people at your workplace who love to gossip and do nothing. You wish to avoid them and do your work, but if you can’t avoid the situation, you can just listen to them and never respond to any kind of gossiping. If you allow yourself to indulge, you are going to a wrong track which may effect your growth. However, make an opportunity to speak up when your company really needs you. If your boss gets any issue regarding the project, you must be the first person that should come into his mind. This will not occur overnight, a massive amount of hard work is required. You should know everything from the basis, and you should know everything about the project in order to reach the position.

Stay away from aggressive and complaining attitude

No company needs an aggressive and complaining person. Stay calm and never respond aggressively. It not only hurts the listener but also damages your fame among your colleagues. If you are angry and you can’t control, going away from the place would rather work than making things complicated.

This is really good, my wife is managing an employee right now who has a bad work ethic and does not understand these basic things. She does not get that if the boss asks "do you think you could do this?" the answer is always "yes!"
And, never come in late with a coffee and a sandwich in your hand!

My golden rule is to have all my tasks on post it notes, even tiny and small tasks. In this way I keep myself motivated to reach the target of empty post-its. Do you also do something similar?

Thanks for sharing. This is really helpful and it would help me in my work especially the point of getting feedback. I learnt that I should take negative feedback as an opportunity to grow, no gossip, no complaining and agressive attitude,and most importantly deliver on time.
