One Upping The Water Spirits

This is a beautiful river. It's also the new home of my Revolut Card. Ladies and gentlemen, I present the Rožnovská Bečva river that flows right past the Wallachian open air museum that I spent the day in.

I don't know why, but I always lose money to water bodies. It happened back on a beach in Havana, Cuba when all the cash I had on me at the time, £400 odd, which I stupidly left in my shorts pocket before deciding to go into the water, was lost to the Caribbean sea. It happened again on the Marina in Napoli when the cash I had in my hand suddenly got blown off into the Mediterranean. I've lost money to the Nile in Cairo and to the Lagoon in Lagos. God knows why it happens, but it almost always does.

Someone once told me that certain water spirits were taxing me for something. I laughed for hours.

Anyway today, while trying to take this very photo, my Revolut card, which was in the same pocket as my phone, came flying out and sloooooowly tumbled in snow motion into the river. The funny thing was, I knew it was going to happen, I saw it happen apparently in slow motion, but I just couldn't stop it.

The other odd thing was, I didn't really need to have my card with me at all. It was the first time I had taken it out on this trip. It would normally be secure in my wallet which would be left somewhere in the accommodation. Today I actively removed the card and placed it into my jacket pocket.

Each time this kind of thing happens, it's preceded by me doing something unexplainably dumb like putting cash in my swimming shorts and then going into the sea. Secondly, I often kind of know it's about to happen and am never able to do anything to stop it from happening haha. Weird as heck.

It was different today though. I paid the water spirits on credit, which I then promptly defaulted on! The minute the card dropped in, I fired up my Revolut app on my iPhone and froze the card. Sorry sirens/mermaids/Poseidon/Olokun, not this time. See technology has moved on since Cuba, Italy, Egypt and Nigeria when you took money from me. I might not have been able to resist your initial pull, but now I can go ahead and do something about it after the fact!

That is quite peculiar.... definitely the water spirits ;) When you come over to mine next time, and if somehow all your cash is gone, let's be clear now, it's definitely the water spirits.

Hahahahahahahah! I'll come with just my Apple Pay hahaha. Lets see if your water spirits can take my finger prints haha..

wait. 😧

Man this is disturbing! The water spirits must be after you indeed. But the last case here at Bečva, couldn´t you just wade through the river to the spot where the card fell and retrieve it? It wasn´t that deep, was it?

It’s shallow but fast flowing. I’m sure it washed away quickly. Also I was on a bridge so it didn’t even occur to me to try that :)

Technically it's not money, just a financial capability identifier for a relatively trustworthy value exchange protocol :)

This needs to be on a T-Shirt 🌟

Just like your public wallet key :)

Unlucky! Water takes what it pleases. I think throughout history water has always taken treasures from humans, both voluntary and involuntary!

You're right. My money is with all that treasure in the bottom of the ocean haha.

Just shows how much better crypto is than fiat!
