Good morning, good afternoon, good evening to all my friend steemians.

As we talk about YOGA,here is YOGA as execise or an alternative medicine.

YOGA is a healing system of theory and practice. It is a combination of breathing exercice, physical postures, and meditation that has been practiced for more than 5,000 years

While yoga evolved as a spiritual practice in Hinduism,in the Western world,it is a part of yoga, known as Asana, and has grown increasingly popular as a form of purely physical exercise. Some Western forms have little or nothing to do with Hinduism or spiriuality, but are simply a way of keeping fit and healthy. The common and popular movement of exercise yoga is Surya Namaskara.

YOGA WORKS

The Modern Yoga Workout consists of a sequence of vigorous exhilarating and flowing movements that combine ancient Yogic postures with understanding of bio-physiology.

The aim is to bring specific subtle effects on various organs and glands of the body to help them function properly. To achieve this, use revitalization massage at specific points of the body and face, aerobic yogic dances, total relaxation and meditation.

Gentle warm-ups and stretches are combined with strengthening and balancing postures that release tightness and tension from the body.
Others coordinate proper breathing which a lot of people do incorrectly. Proper breathing techniques, not only help us imbibe a good supply of oxygen, but also give access to the source of prana (cosmic energy) that bounds around us.

More challenging postures provide for deeperbmassaging effects on your glands, joints, muscles and stabilizing effects on your nervous system. They not only focus on optimum glandular secretions but on the curative effects of the hormones on the current illness or bodily weakness you may be having.

MENTAL ASPECTS

Brain cells have a high rate of metabolism,so the brain requires much more oxygen, relatively, than any other organ of the body. The common advice when stressed is to take s deep breath; to supply the brain with sufficient oxygen. A lack of oxygen means loss of mental balance, concentration, and control of the emotions.

MENTAL BENIFITS OF PROPER BREATHING

*Improve concentration and greater clarity of thought.
*Increased ability to deal with complex situations without suffering from stress.
*Better emotional control and coordination.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF PROPER BREATHING

Proper breathing demands a three-part movement. Firstly, the diaphragm causes the abdomen to expand, filling the lower lungs. Secondly, the intercostals muscles expand the ribcage and fill the middle lungs, and finally, the collar bones lift, bringing air into the top of the lungs.

All True! It can be whatever you want it to be. I like the idea of relating yoga to everyday life...

Things (poses) can become difficult, and we can experience stress (discomfort) but stay with the breath and understand that it is all temporary and each breath is a chance for a new beginning.

Yoga has definitely made myself more grateful for my body and my surroundings too!
