Well hi there! I wanted to check in with all my Yogis, and all the folks following my back pain journey, possibly with back pain of your own, and let you know where I’m at, what’s working what’s not and share with you two yoga classes I’m LOVING lately.

Its been a bit hard to get a good workout in, and I’m not going to like, that frustrates me. Because… impatient….

At the end of the day I needed to rewrite my thinking about my back pain and realize it’s an injury, and as such, I need to REST and leave it ALONE. @teamhumble will tell you how difficult this is for me, I always feel like I should be doing something, but I’ve been taking my chiropractors advice, and really focusing on everything BUT my back, about 2 weeks later, I feel awesome.

You can read about everything I learned here if you’re new to this blog :)

So I’ve been taking it easy, focusing on hamstrings and heart openers instead and wowie kazowie... I’m feeling SO much better. YAY! My back hasn’t felt this good since February.

Today I did DoYogaWithMe’s: Haha Yoga for the Heart Chakra

If you’re not familiar Hatha, it’s a pretty general term, but in this case its a more restorative style of yoga, which is great if you’re recovering from an injury but still want to keep up your flexibility and center yourself with a practice. The transitions are slow between poses, and you’re encouraged to breathe deeply into the postures using a breathing technique called Pranayama.

The second class I’m pretty jazzed about is: Yin Yoga for the Hips and Hamstrings

This is one I used to do a lot in my 12 mile per day dog walking days, and I’ve recently rediscovered it. I DARE you to do this practice before bed and not have the best more restful sleep ever. Remember what it felt like going to sleep as a kid, where you’re just OUT.. that’s what this class does for me, it’s slow, focuses on long deep breathing and poses that last between 3 and 5 minutes each so you can really focus on a deep release. It’s long, but I promise you, if you take this little bit of extra time before bed you won’t regret it.

Anyway, I just wanted to check in and say hello to all my yoga friends and back pain sufferers, of COURSE speak to your doctor before you begin any new exercise routine to make sure these classes are safe for you. I started what I thought would be the right classes for my back and ended up making it angrier.

Also I’m just a person on the internet. Listen to your doctor and your body first and formost. <3

I hope you have a lovely day today friends!
