#YogaChallenge Day 27! | “Birds of a Feather” - Because a 35 minute class should never fool you into thinking it's easy…

I should know better by now. ESPECIALLY since this class is taught by my arch nemesis instructor Fiji... I’m sure she’s a lovely person in real life but her classes always end up being so hard for me that I joke she’s trying to kill me… Figi, if you're reading- no hard feelings!

Today’s class is called “Birds of a Feather” because it takes you through Eagle, Pigeon and the dreaded Crow pose, and variations of all three.

Pigeon and I have always been friends because it allows me to stretch my super tight hips. Eagle requires a lot of balance and focus but I really like it, especially the stretch through my upper back..

But Crow…

Crow pose is my Moby Dick. One of those poses that I may have to wait until next life time to achieve… but today, I did kind a half crow! Maybe a 1/4 crow because one foot was back in plank like this...

I was only able to do it on one side, so don’t start calling the hit parade and bandstand just yet, but it made me stoked to kinda sorta get there…

Today I tried my best to follow my 80% rule, but If im honest, I’m kinda dragging energy-wise today and I got to the mat at about 75%, so that 80% felt more like a 60% of what I feel like I can normally do on a good energy day.

If that math didn’t work out for you, well, it didn’t for me either. Ive never understood the language of numbers so I tend to just throw them around when describing things, no wonder why Elon denied my application to work on the BFR….

These bird poses in yoga are aleays killing me!

I am a big yogi guy... loving your posts, but just recently saw them. Would it be too late to hop on the 30 day yoga challenge given the fact that you are basically at the end of the challenge ?

it's never too late! I may be done in a few days but I'll for sure be checking the tag even after I'm done to cheer those on who are still going ! <3

The crow is very tricky! I like your 80 % idea, have you written more about it in other posts? Would love to read it. I try to practice it myself, even if it's hard when you are used to always try to do your best. But I realized that doing 100 % isn't the best way to feel good :)

You're right, Especially when you're doing yoga with no breaks for an extended time like 30 days... I'm awful at taking a chill pill and often do way too much and burn out haha

I've mentioned it once or twice but its actually going to be a part of a bigger post I'm working about on the Japanese concept of IKIGAI- we've been going through a book about it and it's been awesome- I promise I'll get on it as soon as we finish! only 2 chapters to go ;)

You got a 1/4 crow! I think it was better than 1/4, but what do I know? You are doing much better than I, who hasn't really put much effort into it! I have lots of excuses as to why I don't...

haha it was so weird/frustrating that I could only do it on one side??! what the heck is up with that? Oh well i guess we cant have things all simple and clean and in nice tidy boxes... sometimes we just have to make peace with where we're at, even if it's just the drumstick of the crow ;)
