780,000+ AFIT Tokens Burnt!
Earlier this week, we announced that we will be burning AFIT tokens as per our normal process on the 25th of each month.
Our projection based on the amount available back then under @actifit.s-e account was at around 495,000 AFIT tokens.
During the course of the week, many additional transactions took place with users moving over AFIT tokens from steem-engine to their actifit wallet (which allows them to increase their user rank and/or buy items on marketplace), which resulted in almost doubling the amount of AFIT tokens available under the actifit.s-e token, whereby the account had around 787,508 AFIT as of this morning.
So today, we went ahead and performed our burn action, and the account had the total AFIT amount available sent to null, resulting in burning 787,508.11070555 AFIT tokens. This decreased the circulating supply on steem-engine from 8.62M down to 7.83 M.
A couple of clarifying notes on AFIT token burn event:
- The event did not / does not affect your own tokens in any way possible, whether the ones available on S-E or on your actifit wallet.
- Burning is a measure taken by many projects, the purpose of which is to limit the circulating supply of a token, which normally reflects positively on the token price based on scarcity and demand.

A kind reminder to all actifitters: some versions of esteem app still cause issues when used to edit your reports, via removing essential info Actifit uses to identify proper reports. This prevents related reports from receiving rewards.
Until this issue is officially fixed via the esteem team, we advise that you use other Steem interfaces for editing, including our own actifit.io, steemit, busy or others.

That is how I interpreted this as well, but I assume that can’t be right? I guess my confusion comes from a misunderstanding of what happens when coins move from Actifit.io to Steem-Engine and the reverse.

Seems to me that tokens that are transferred from Steem-engine to actifit wallets don't actually transfer across. I think the tokens for transfer go to actifit's Steem-engine account and actifit puts the equivalent AFITS from the pool of tokens into one's actifit wallet. Hence actifit's Steem-engine account keeps growing and now they are burning them. If this is what is happening it does not make any sense. Yes they are burning tokens but ones that should not even be released yet.
