Called a foot doctor today and set up an appointment a couple weeks from now. They should be able to give me some good shoes or soles or something. Can't wait two weeks - calling them in the morning. I've been moving like a snail 🐌

too much walking?

I guess it's a mixture of things. Am not used to having this problem. I've gained weight over the last few years plus the back issues I'm working through...I guess it is putting a lot of pressure on my feet. Also, a big part is that we walk on cement and asphalt all day - usually not good to walk as much as I am on such hard surfaces

Did you get a diagnosis on your back? I injured my back when I was 26, and it led to the discovery that I had chronic condition in my back that only got exposed because of my injury. I was in a lot of pain at the time, still recovering from the injury. The doctor told me I could have surgery, but the surgery only had an 85% success rate. That was too risky for me, so I asked him if there was anything else that could be done. He told me that if I strengthened my core and kept it strong, it would keep everything in my back in alignment, and would alleviate the pain. This is the main reason I've gone to gyms regularly, for decades. It has really helped me, and I've had few problems since starting working out, always focused mostly on my core muscles. I'd likely be in bad shape if I hadn't chosen this route!

An MRI showed I have a bulging disc in my lower back. But I know a lot's going on with my upper back and neck - some of that was probably before the bulging disc while some likely occurred after to compensate. I'm not sure if there's a true diagnosis for it, but I've certainly let my posture get out of hand.

I'm about 250 pounds and am probably about 6 feett tall, but my back makes me look shrunken a bit - closer to 5 ft 10, and most people don't even believe I weigh that much because of it.

Ah, a disc issue. I didn't mention in my earlier comment that, in addition to my gym workouts, I also own an inversion table that I use to keep things in my back in good alignment. Inversion tables are really good with getting the spine to decompress, which does wonders for the kind of issues you're having. Still, it would be wise to first talk to your back doctor to see if it would be okay to start using one, but if he says it's okay, it should help you a lot, and get that bulging disc some breathing room. :)

ahh....many years ago i hurt my foot and injured it. ever since then it hurt when walking too long or on hard surface or improper shoes. so my shoes need to have soft cushioning to absorb the impact. and stretching help too u may give it a try
