Valentine's Day Happy Hash

Ok, it wasn't technically Valentine's Day but rather the day before. All of our lovebirds still turned up to run, especially the perpetually single men that constitute a vast majority of our membership.

We started out near a reservoir that I forgot the name of, but it doesn't matter. It was scenic and I don't know if it is always like this but was also quite windy. This was annoying when we first arrived because it was strong enough to blow away some of our cheap plastic chairs, but once we all got our bodies moving it was a very welcome respite to the crazy Thailand heat.

A great deal of the start of the run took place on paved or semi-paved streets, which is something we try to avoid but there is a ton of private property around here and we don't want to piss off the inhabitants or their dogs. Speak of which, we were approached by a couple of very friendly hounds near the start and they ended up following us for the entire trek.

This is "Scraggles"

And this is "Cow"

Cow and Scraggles actually came in really handy because there was a veritable army of stray or semi-owned dogs on this run that can prove problematic in some areas. Scraggles is apparently an Alpha out here, because upon seeing him the other dogs, who were quite territorial seemed to back off when he approached. It is amazing that he was as friendly as he was and was basically our bodyguard during the entire journey.

It wasn't a terribly long course, but I think most people agreed that it was just as long as it needed to be. Most of the pack made it back in about an hour, just as the sun was starting to set

A good time was had by all (I think) and there were no injuries nor did we run out of beer, which is unforgivable!

This week's events take place on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at the usual pickup place and time of 3:15.... don't be late!
