Are you on a diet again, but still not losing weight? Let's look at the possible reasons.
You are NOT in a caloric deficit
In other words, you are eating more calories than you spend. Maybe you are leading a sedentary lifestyle, maybe you chose elevator instead of stairs and park as close as possible when you go to the store. Maybe it's a combination of all of the above, but the verdict is simple: you either need to eat less or move more.
You don't account for snacks
A mint at the office, creamer in the coffee, every spoon of sugar - it all counts. How about a fruit or a salad you grab at the store? Snacks and "healthy" foods also have calories.
BLTS'
Bites - Licks - Tastes. One of the most common mistakes. You finished your kid's breakfast, took a bite of a cookie and tasted your dinner for salt while cooking. It doesn't seem like much but over the course of the day, you may BLT 200-300 calories!
You are sort of accurate with your measurements
While you can get away with eyeballing your green veggies (unless we are on a competition prep), eyeballing everything else will usually lead to a huge discrepancy. This is especially true with nut butters. Measure a "tablespoon" or two just like you usually would and then put it on the scale and compare that to the reality. Chances are you scooped a lot more than just 1 serving size :)
You expect results too soon
More often than not, I see people jumping from one diet to another without giving it a chance to work. Just because you don't see results for 1 or 2 weeks it doesn't mean your diet needs to be changed.
Your approach is unsustainable
Initially, ANY diet will work as long as you are in a caloric deficit. If the diet doesn't correspond with your lifestyle and/or your physical needs, you are bound to go off the plan sooner or later. On the other hand, even if your diet is built to a perfection, it is not going to work without a compliance. Discipline is the main ingredient of ANY program.
The best advice I can give to anyone who is struggling with proper a diet routine is to find a plan that is sustainable and doable in your particular situation. Be wise about your choices of a diet approach and resist the urge to get quick and easy results.
