Lock down recipe: Meat balls in honey-orange sauce

A delicious recipe to try especially during lock down days and to enjoy with family. Meat balls are ideally complemented by a spicy-sweet sauce of honey, ketchup, balsamic vinegar and citrus juice.

Meat Ball Ingredients

  • Breadcrumbs ¹⁄₂ cup
  • Milk ¹⁄₄ cup
  • Shallot 1 piece
  • Garlic 2 cloves
  • Ground black pepper ¹⁄₂ tsp
  • Salt 1 teaspoon
  • Minced chicken 220 g
  • Egg 1 piece
  • Ground meat 450 g

Sauce Ingredients

  • Honey ¹⁄₃ cup
  • Ketchup ¹⁄₄ cup
  • Sriracha or other hot sauce ¹⁄₄ cup
  • Balsamic vinegar 3-4 tbsp. spoons
  • Orange juice ¹⁄₂ cup
  • Salt taste

Cooking

  1. Pour the crackers with milk and leave while preparing the other ingredients.

2 ․ Grind onion, garlic, black pepper and salt in a blender. You should get a homogeneous paste.

3 ․ Add the minced pork and egg to this paste and beat again.

  1. Then stir in the ground beef manually or with a blender.

  2. Place a baking tray on the baking sheet or cover with foil.

6 ․Form small balls from minced meat and put on a baking sheet.

7 ․Place in an oven preheated to 160 ° C for 15–20 minutes. Cool the meat balls.

  1. While they are cooling, in a saucepan or deep pan, combine all the ingredients for the sauce.

  2. Put on medium heat, bring to a light boil and cook, stirring, for 10-15 minutes. The mass should thicken.

  3. Put the meat balls there so that they are covered in the sauce.

Serve hot or warm appetizers by placing each ball on a skewer and pouring the rest of the sauce on it.
