195,619 Total Team Reps (+4,402) - Steemit Daily 100+ Rep Fitness Challenge - Day # 87 - 3/3/18

in health •  7 years ago  (edited)

More faithful hard work by 14 Steemians for 4,402 reps today (195,619 overall), done across 31 people from 9 countries in 86 days! Thanks to @thevillan and @mightpossibly for surprising ME with some SBD for my first 10K reps). We should hit 200K exercise reps as a team in a day or two. That's pretty huge.

The Challenge:

At least 100 honest reps of exercise every day. No excuses. No bullsh*t. Just actions, positivity, and results. Only post AFTER your reps are done. Please always support each other.

  • You choose what types of exercise reps to do.

  • 30 minutes of fitness walking, running, spinning, biking, cross-country skiing, etc., can count as 100 reps if you need to rest or can't handle weights.

  • I'll award 1 SBD for every individual 10,000 rep milestone. (8 SBD paid out)

  • I manually process and update all cumulative figures daily. Not easy...

Conditions:

  • Weights not required.
  • Do real reps with good form, aiming for 100+.
  • Start your reply with "Challenge Completed".
  • Reply with the type of exercises and # of reps for each in a list.
  • Cumulative tallies appreciated as a separate line.
  • Only submit reps you've done, not ones you're planning to do.
  • Use the tag "fitnesschallenge".
  • Upvoting or resteeming is appreciated to reach more people.

Advice:

  • Stretch before and after your exercise.
  • Breathe properly on each rep.
  • Quality over quantity.
  • Hydrate throughout and afterwards.
  • Eat a healthy snack with protein after.
  • Do exercises you enjoy at first to build momentum for harder ones.
  • Take before pictures to appreciate your results over time.
  • Feel good about your accomplishments.

My Daily Challenge Completed - 260 reps:

-30 Shoulder Bar Presses (75 pounds)
-30 Calf Bar Raises (75 pounds)
-200 reps (2 hours of non-stop 4x4 and 3x3 basketball...brutally exhausting given my winter hibernation.)
-Bonus activity not counted (1 hour of tennis: singles & then 2 vs me in ~40 degree F weather.)

My Daily Assessment:

-MY BODY IS SO DAMN TIRED. Doing a bunch of forearm reps before all of this sports activity was not smart in hindsight. A few more sessions like this and I'll be back in baseball shape. I played sports at a housewarming party, showered there, and hung out for 4 hours more before heading home for an hour commute. Regardless of the cardio, I still needed to do some weights half asleep after to feel like I balanced out my commitment to the Iron God. I don't have the strength to lift much, so I did what I could before recharging for tomorrow.

Feedback from @mightpossibly:

"I find it deeply satisfying to do these reps, which is a big deal. I've always hated the gym and prefer to exercise at home. But I've lacked the discipline to do it. It sort of feels like I have gym buddies now, without the hassle of going to the gym."

Feedback from @notorious562:

"I seriously cannot explain how much this group pushes and motivate me to keep working harder. I love this fitness community and the support and encouragement will help us achieve our goals."

Not really killing it. Its just a morning routine for me to do 50 push ups and squats. Sometimes I add sit ups but the push ups.and squats are constant

That's a great routine! I've been doing a push up challenge to see how my body changes in 30 days. But I think I will make it my daily routine. I feel so much better doing it daily now. I need to work on those squats though! :l

Meet any girls at the yoga class?

I use the P90X yoga DVD for my yoga sessions. All my workouts are home workouts. I haven't gone to the gym or taken a group class since I was in college. Back then I used the campus fitness center. Since then I've exercised alone using P90X as well as the internet to learn new things and stay motivated.

Daily challenge completed 200 reps
