First sort through the groats. Even if you buy an expensive product, there is a chance that it will turn out garbage. So do not be too lazy to look at buckwheat and remove all foreign elements.

Then rinse the cereal under running water until the liquid becomes clear.

To make the dish even more crumbly and aromatic, you can additionally slightly heat the dried cereals in a hot pan. Set a small fire and do not overdo it: a light buckwheat aroma should appear. As a rule, 3-4 minutes is more than enough for this.

Most often, water is used twice as much as buckwheat. That is, 1 glass of cereal will need 2 of the same glass of water. In this case, buckwheat will turn out friable. But if you like viscous porridge, take plenty of liquid - for example, 2.5 or 3 glasses.

How to cook buckwheat porridge in milk

Pour salt into the water. 1⁄₂ teaspoon of salt or even a little less is enough for 1 cup of cereal. But it is better to focus on your taste. It’s okay if you add some ready-made porridge. You can also add your favorite spices.

After cooking, put a piece of butter in buckwheat and leave it under the lid for several minutes - this will make the porridge more tender and aromatic.

Put the groats in a pan with a thick bottom and fill with water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes. Many throw buckwheat into already boiling water. In this case, the cooking time does not change, but it is necessary to reduce the fire immediately after adding the cereal.

During cooking, do not mix porridge. Buckwheat readiness can be checked by running a spoon along the bottom. If there is no water, then the pan can be removed from the stove.

If you are afraid that you will be late and the croup will burn, remove it from the heat a little earlier and leave it under the lid for about 10 minutes. Buckwheat will absorb the remaining water.

How to make buckwheat without cooking

Pour the cereal into a glass dish with a lid. An ordinary jar or glass container will do. If there is no suitable container, use a deep plate, and instead of a lid, use a flat saucer.

Remember that buckwheat increases in volume, so dry cereals should not occupy more than half of the dishes.

Pour the cereal with boiling water, close and leave for at least 1 hour. You can additionally wrap dishes. Buckwheat should swell and absorb the liquid.

Instead of boiling water, you can use cold water, but porridge should be infused for at least 6 hours. In this case, the container must be removed to the refrigerator.

My favorite way to make buckwheat is to bake it inside a duck. The buckwheat soaks up the ducks juices while it bakes and makes it delicious.
