SRI PADA(ADAM'S PEAK) - 5% FOR SL CHARITY

Hello Steemians, As you aware these days are a little scary days to all of us because of the COVID-19 issue. I think all of you are keeping well. However today I'm going to share with you a beautiful place that we are really love to visit as a Srilankan. You know there are several sacred places in our Island(Sri Lanka). Among them Adam's peak is regarded as one of the most sacred place to Buddhists. Most of Srilankans it is called as Sripada also.
To tell the truth I have never visited to Sripada Yet, As a Srilankan it is a point of a shame.As well as the chief significance of Sripada is that is held sacred by people belonging to all the four major religions.

There are several historical stories about SRIPADA as well. Among them , The Mahawansa says that Lord Buddha set his foot print on the summit of Sripada on his third visit to SriLanka.As well as some people believe that God Saman has been guarding this foot print since the day that Lord Buddha visited to the mountain. Adam's Peak is situated in the Sabaragamuwa Province. From Colombo to this place, distance is about 101km. The height of the mountain is 7362ft.

Devotees go on pilgrimages to this sacred mountain in every year.The season begins in December and ends in May.People in all walks of life climb to this mountain during this period.They usually go in groups. The Leader of the group is "Nade Gura". While climbing the mountain they recite devotional verses. They climb the mountain as members of a same family. They stop at resting places and share their meals. Devotees say the morning sun shine in the top of the mountain is lovely to see.

They don't feel tired when the climb the mountain because their minds are filled with religious thoughts. It was mentioned recently newspaper report that some of devotees do not care about the environment there. We must always try to keep the environment of the sacred place clean.
