Poya day and the temple / 5% for SL Charity

I used to go to the temple almost every month of the year. Now things have changed. No one is able to go there because of the crown virus. We used to arrange pilgrimages with friends or with family members. Now we are stuck at home. Tomorrow is Binara full moon poya day. So I decided to recall one of the recent memory of going to a temple.

It was Unduwap full moon poya day last year. We arranged to go to the well known ancient temple “Pilikuththuwa Raja Maha Wiharaya”. I’m sure you have heard about the stories of king Walagamba. He used to stay here during the invasion from India. This place is a historic place as you can see.

After worshipping the temple, we all start to climb the rock going inside a forest. We took around 20 minutes to reach the top because adults also came with us. The path is covered with lots of large trees which gives a dark and cool feeling to whoever goes there. There were rock caves all around the path to the top. Lots of them were naturally formed. It says 78 caves were identified and a lot more to be discovered. You can see that 78 caves mean lots of caves right?

We reach the top and it was a Stone plain. We even see the Colombo building from there which is wonderful. We stayed on the top sometimes and took some photos. Since it was getting dark we head back down after spending about one hour there.

We came to our vehicles and ate ice cream also. This temple is 6km away from my home. And also the well known “Maligathenna” temple and rock are also nearby. We are very lucky in that aspect. I hope the situation in the world may become normal again very soon. So we can get back to our normal life and live happily ever after.
