Hello my dear Steemians,

I would like to invite you to the contest that is running by @aaliarubaband if you would like to have a look, here is the link:

https://steemit.com/hive-168205/@aaliarubab/is-intermittent-fasting-beneficial-for-everyone

When I saw the topic I immediately decided to take part, because this is something that me and my hubby doing for a long time regular and we definitely feel the benefit and would like to share with others.

What is your opinion about intermittent fasting? Is it easier to lose our weight or not?

I came across to intermittent fasting not because of trying to loss weight, because I have no problem with my weight, but once when we watched the documentary about Intermittent Fasting there were few facts that was explained:

  • normally when we eat regular, let's say three times a day, then our body is busy with digestion, the body often does not need the energy because we do not burn all that energy so it will be stored in liver "for bad days". If you think about old time like in ancient time, people had something to eat maybe once a day or maybe once in three days. That is why the cell of body were going into "hyper-sleep" they were shut down and the infection, or cancer cells had no energy. Our immune system was fighting with full power diseases

That was the main reason why we decided to start intermittent fasting too

  • as to weight, yes, of course, if you eat less then you will loose weight

Intermittent fasting: 6 to 18 hours

I would like to share our way of intermittent fasting, we decided to choose "6 to 18", that means you are allowed to eat during 6 hours but no eating for 18 hours

It sounds difficult but just try that:

  • no breakfast in the morning, you are allowed to have coffee or tea but no food

  • from 12PM to 18PM you are allowed to have a meal, even a little piece of cake if you like or maybe chocolate

  • from 18:00 no more food till 123PM following day

Are there any risks of trying intermittent fasting for people with certain health conditions?

Intermittent fasting noticeably improving your blood sugar if you are diabetic. The reason is when we normally eat few times a day or snacking, then body producing Insulin, in order to bind carbohydrates and remove from blood stream. But if you do fasting, then you body does not need insulin, so your pancreas also can improve. Of course, if you are suffering from Type 1 Diabetes, you should keep close eye on your blood sugar and use your insulin to keep blood sugar under control.

Fasting from 18:00 till 12 AM is the most easy for body to tolerate, because you have night and we sleep over night and people do not require any meals, that makes such fasting easier.

Only make sure that you are drinking plenty to avoid dehydration.

Is intermittent fasting a realistic way to stay healthy in the long term or not? Share your opinion.

I can say from our own experience, we do that Intermittent fasting for a few years now, that is why we got used to that. 5 days of week we stick to 6/18 hours and on weekend we do have breakfast as normally and later on one main meal.

Once you get such habit that is then easy to stick to that.

Long term it helps to maintain your weight and keep yourself disciplined. We definitely feel better with intermittent fasting.

I would like to invite following users @dequeen, @memamun, @sitaraindaryas for the contest.

I am a witness on how intermittent fasting really has a curative effect on heart disease. It is because that my brother developed a coronary heart blockage which caused his heart to beat abnormally that could lead to heart attack which is why he did seek help for it and the reason on why he got diagnosed.

The doctor prescribed him medicines and was advised to look after his diet. My brother has no control about his diet, he is a heavy eater but he is not fat. However his heart's coronary artery suffered but my brother turned his diet 180 degrees around and went into intermittent fasting.

Now he only eats once a day and only eats healthy foods. I do think that what he is doing makes his body to use up all the energy from the food that he consumes in a more efficient way which I do think that we all have to do in order to avoid essentially developing a coronary artery issues or blockages of the heart.

Well my brother's efforts worked because he is actually on the operating table already to get a stent procedure in his heart when upon looking at the specific blockage in his heart by the surgeon, the doctor was surprised that there is no more need for it because he had seen that the blocked or very narrow artery had been improved. So my brother got wheeled out from the operating table again and was allowed to go home immediately. Well of course he also has to take some medicines still.

So intermittent fasting makes sense as I had explained above because normally people should eat less of calories and fats in our diets but modern ways of eating makes our bodies get overloaded with those and so our bodies would get affected by blocked arteries leading to heart attack and the proof of that is heart attack in a leading cause of death worldwide due to over consumption of foods and the wrong foods or food-like things including its additives which also causes diseases of many sorts.

I recommend intermittent fasting as a number one go-to solution coupled with a healthy diet plus of course exercise if you have heart condition because of what it did to my brother who is now continuing his one meal a day diet and is as healthy as ever with his heart. @stef1

#health

When i fast i have greater clarity & concentration.

Very good for the body i say

It seems to work better for some people than for others.

@whitelightxpress and I don't exactly do intermittent fasting, but most days we get up and have a morning coffee, and then a breakfast-like meal around 12:00-13:00... and then we eat dinner around 18:00-19:00. That just suits our particular routine and schedules, but it's not an actual structured regimen, more something we did because she has a fair number of (zoom) clients in Europe for the morning slots here (before 13:00) and in Australia/Asia (evenings, here).

Did you call it intermittent fasting? I have not heard such an activities before but reading from your explanation I think is a good activities someone can use to lose weight. But also we should also consider that there are some people that has health issue that their body need food for example people with ulcer. I can use my self as an example, though other people can do it, I don't think I can be able to do it especially with the heavy work am doing every day. I can imagine myself with a glass of tea and then am about to carry 1 bag of rice. So in my opinion it depends, make sure you understand your body before engaging in this intermittent fasting. My opinion though, thank you for sharing with us

Great to hear that intermittent fasting is working well for you and your husband. It's really a popular weight loss and health practice that can have a variety of benefits, including improving blood sugar, reducing inflammation, and promoting autophagy.

I am just hearing for the first time and it is really look so wonderful that I will definitely love to participate in this contest. There is a lot of things to actually pay attention to as it were

"I never considered about this question", as various celebrities used to answer questionable / inconvenient questions like that in interviews. But I know for sure that a little fasting is better than constant gluttony - it stimulates activity, while gluttony stimulates only laziness, digestive processes and lying on the couch (and also provides additional stress to one's heart... and wallet).

"Никогда не задумывался над этим вопросом", как иногда отвечают на вопросы в интервью разные селебрити. Но я точно знаю, что небольшое голодание лучше чем постоянное обжорство - оно стимулирует активность, тогда как обжорство стимулирует только лень, пищеварительные процессы и лежание на диване (а еще обеспечивает дополнительную нагрузку на сердце... кошелек).

Hi dear hope you are doing well.

Yes fasting is really good.

In India we have fasting regular even religion says to fast once a week for good digestive system.

As per AYURVEDA also , you will fee more energetic.
