Some people, describing the results of such a vacation, say that it literally changed their lives...
Despite the fact that the Internet has given people unlimited access to information, created millions of new opportunities and brought the world closer, it is still a double-edged sword, especially when it comes to the development of our brain and its functioning in general.
According to the research, excessive usage of the internet has many negative consequences which are:
- Difficulty remembering facts.
- Development of addiction, especially among gamers.
- The appearance of feelings of envy and loneliness.
- Increased risk of suicide, especially among teenagers.
- Lack of feeling for the grief of others.
- Chronic insomnia.
- Inability to think and analyze.
Since all of these side effects have negative affect and to cope up with these some psychologists have recommended a “digital detox” to their patients to reset the brain and restore its ability to function normally.
Let's have a look at one interesting experiment. During this experiement a team of neuroscientists, together with a group of successful entrepreneurs spent several days in the Moroccan desert without access to the Internet.
And this is what they ultimately achieved:
1. Increasing the frequency of eye contact:
Participants in the experiment began to look more often at other people rather than at the screens of their gadgets. As a result, stronger and deeper interpersonal relationships were formed that could lay the foundation for true friendship.
2. Improved posture:
People stopped slouching and straightened their shoulders and raised their heads aligning them with the spine. This eliminated back pain and improved digestion. People have also become more open to communication.
3. Active involvement in conversations:
Since the participants in the experiment were not allowed access to the Internet, this helped them focus on their surroundings, thereby gaining experience communicating with other people.
4. Memory improvement:
Increased engagement improved the participants' ability to remember what other participants said and the details of their lives, which would otherwise be simply missed in the continuous stream of incoming information from their phones.
5. Improved sleep:
Most modern screens emit a “blue light” that signals the body to reduce production of melatonin, a natural chemical that tells the brain it is ready to sleep.
While it may take few days for all of the effects described above to occur, there is strong evidence that even a 24-hour digital detox can have a significant positive impact on the way your brain functions.
Ideally, detoxification should be done with other people like with family members or friends.

Apki post dikha raha hai ke screens se break lena sach mein cheezen badal sakta hai. Ismein yeh bhi bataya gaya hai ke zyada internet istemal hamari yaad, dimagh ki sehat aur hamari dusron ke saath taluqat par bura asar daal sakta hai. Desert mein ki gayi tajurba dikhata hai ke internet se alag ho kar hum apne rishtay, posture aur yaad rakhne ki salahiyat ko behtar kar sakte hain. Kabhi-kabhi technology se breaks lena acha hota hai.

Your remarks on the aftereffects of digital detox are very insightful. It is amazing how disconnecting from the internet can result in such positive changes, beginning with memory and sleep improvements and ending at a stronger social connection. With your reference to the Moroccan desert experiment, you have painted a picture of how disconnecting from screens becomes an effective way for reviving one’s brain and body. Thank you for this great insight!

Hi there @chasad75
Im glad to see that you're still active in Project.hope. Solid read :) Upvote on the way.
I often think about having few days off from any digital devices, social media and work in general. Somehow it never happen. There is always something "urgent" or simply my addiction to being online is to strong for me to stay away for longer than few hours.
Thanks for sharing details of this experiment. Results are more than interesting. I however cannot picture situation in which just couple of days would improve anybodys posture. That require weeks (if not months) of constant effort to stop slouching. So I would not believe in those "results" blidnly.
Cheers, Piotr

Thank you for sharing your view. Yes you said right it will take weeks but if we do it with exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, knee to chest stretch, and some other then we can make our spine in good posture that will help us to improve our overall posture. I forget to add these exercises in the content. Will add in the next health related post.
Happy to see you actively engaging with your community members :)
