We are immersed in an increasingly technological world, we are giving it a lot of importance, and practically society in general is dependent on it, except for some primitive societies that exist, and that refuse to have within themselves all these technological advances.
Recently an incident that happened to my sister-in-law made me think about the high dependence we have on it. She is living in Colombia, and recently went to visit her mother'(my mother-in-law) in Venezuela, she was supposed to call her relatives with a car to pick her up, but her cell phone reset and erased all contacts, she was left incommunicado and unable to do much.
I remember that in my adolescence, when there were not so many cell phones available, the usual thing was to know by heart the phone numbers of our loved ones, but that saving in memory has become almost exclusive to technological devices.
For this reason I was thinking about the possibilities and limitations that technology has brought us, I would like to mention some of these:
Undoubtedly it improves efficiency and productivity: Technology can help automate tasks and processes, which in turn can increase efficiency and productivity at work and in everyday life.
Facilitates communication and access to information: Technology, such as cell phones and social networks, allows us to communicate with people around the world and access a wealth of information quickly and easily.
Helping to solve problems: Technology can be used to solve problems in various fields, such as health, agriculture, energy and education.
Provides entertainment and distraction: Technology, such as video games, music and social networks, provides us with ways of entertainment and distraction in our free time.
It offers productivity options: being here present on this platform is an example of this, which allows us to have the possibility of generating some income with the exclusive use of technology.
But not everything is entirely good, because I would like to mention some disadvantages:
Dependence: As we become more and more dependent on technology, it can be difficult to do some things without it. (As in the case of my sister-in-law, at the beginning of this publication).
Costs: Technology can be expensive to acquire and maintain, more so with planned obsolescence, since every so often we will have to change phones, for example, since the one we have does not support some necessary applications.
Privacy and security risks: Technology can also put people's privacy and security at risk if it is not used properly or if personal data is shared irresponsibly.
Unemployment: Automation and the use of robots in the workplace can lead to job losses for some people. Something that has been happening for a long time already, and the trend is for it to become more and more of a reality.
Everything is necessary at the right balance point, so making us totally dependent on something, whatever it is, can put us in a very unfavorable situation, don't you think?

Technology has advantages and disadvantages and we have to be creful when use it. Ove use of anything will be harmful so I think we have to controll our mind first. Sometime using alternative thing is recommended otherwise something bad can happen like you mentioned your sister-in-law example.

I couldn't help but notice that you won a steemit awards, so congratulations on that, yes, technology certainly has its downsides as well, there are lots of examples I could give to that effect, my Dad still has a physical phone log book he carries around, he doesn't trust technology 100%, so he always tries to find a suitable alternative whenever he can.
