몇번 안먹어본 마라탕 Mala soup (mala tang), which I’ve only tried a few times.

알콜의존증인 친구가 월요일부터 술 타령을 해서(ㅋㅋㅋ) 나도 먹게 됐다.

마라탕은 몇 번 먹어본 적이 없다. 본래 마라탕의 기원이되는 중국에서는 훠궈처럼 마라탕도 국물을 먹는 게 아니라고 하는데, 우리나라로 들어오면서 현지화가 되면서 국물도 사골국물로 만들고 보다 연하게 만들어서 마실 수 있도록 만들었다고 한다.

그래도 이번에는 국물은 따로 먹지 않았다.

A friend of mine, who struggles with alcohol dependency, started talking about drinking from Monday(haha), so I ended up drinking too.

I haven’t had mala soup (mala tang) many times before. In its original form in China, mala tang, like hot pot (huoguo), isn’t meant for drinking the broth. However, after it was introduced to Korea, it was localized with a lighter flavor, often made with beef bone broth, so the soup could be enjoyed as well.

This time, though, I didn’t drink the broth separately.

이 메뉴는 뭐였는지 잘 기억이 안난다. 조미료가 식초였던 것 같다. 맛있게 먹었다.

I can’t quite remember what this dish was. I think the seasoning might have been vinegar. Either way, I enjoyed it.

'도원결의'라는 술인데, 한병에 15,000원이었다. 알콜 도수가 15도 밖에 안되서 무시했는데 몇잔 먹어보니까 훅 취하는 것 같았다. 결국 저 한병은 다 못먹고 가게에서 나왔다.

The drink was called "Do Won Gyeol Eui," and it cost 15,000 KRW per bottle. Since it was only 15% alcohol, I underestimated it, but after a few glasses, I started feeling quite tipsy. In the end, we couldn’t finish the bottle and left the place.

야탑역 근처에서 살고 있는 친구가 회사회식을 마치고 2차에서 합류했다. 저번에 한번 가본 이자카야 집에서 오코노미야끼와 맥주를 시켜서 먹었다. 다들 너무 배불러서 오코노미야끼는 다 먹을 수가 없었다.

A friend who lives near Yatap Station joined us for the second round after finishing their company dinner. We went to an izakaya we’d been to before and ordered okonomiyaki and beer. Everyone was so full that we couldn’t finish the okonomiyaki.
