Another World

The new planet was not as Helena had imagined it. They had left the Earth to find a new refuge, water and oxygen, but this planet was a wasteland, just a big desert.

For years, news of the new discovery has been arriving on Earth, with photos of fertile lands full of life. But now that they had arrived, all they saw was an expanse of sand.

Perhaps the reason was that the news, and their spaceship as well, traveled light years away and it had been a long time since they had left.

They had no choice now, once they landed, they could do nothing but contemplate failure. Helena resigned herself, she thought the planet was big and maybe they had landed on the wrong side. But while the other crew members looked for a safe place to make a shelter, she fell into despair and cried all night long.

The next morning, however, she was awakened by the voices of others, by laughter, and a light breeze caressed her face. She opened his eyes and could see strange bushes and sea water in front of her. They had grown up in the night, the others said!

What a strange planet, another world!

STEPS

I made the drawing with watercolor pencils on a white sheet. I outlined the contours to delimit the spaces.

With black and brown pencil I colored the trees in the background.

Then I drew the bushes with brown and chestnut.

I colored the sky with apricot yellow and light blue. And I colored the sea with blue and gray, then I added the green bushes on the islet and other small bushes in the distance.

I started coloring the land with black, gray and brown.

I finished with the distant areas, touched up other parts of the sea and some shadows.
