Zero Tolerance to Any Form of Plagiarism.

Introduction

Greetings my esteemed steemit users. Today I will be talking about plagiarism. It is not my first time talking about plagiarism. As the leader of the plagiarism team in the steem-cameroon community, we strongly condemn plagiarists in our community. During the week, we detected one plagiarized post and the user was issued a warning. Why do Content Creators Plagiarize?

This is a question I will like everyone to ask themselves; why should I plagiarize? Plagiarism for the benefit of newcomers is when you read someone’s article or book and paraphrase or copy and paste without proper referencing.

When you do that without acknowledging the source where you got the information, you are considered a plagiarist. This is also considered academic theft and is punishable by law.

Reading through articles on steemit daily has made me realize some reasons why Steemians plagiarized. These reasons might not apply to everyone but my opinion from my observation.

• Users are in the rush to publish articles to get support and quickly copy content without acknowledging the source and post.
• Negative competition: Some users because they see other hard-working users creating quality content and receiving votes, they turn to paraphrase such content to receive votes without acknowledging the source.
• Some steemians are just naturally lazy, I am sorry to say this but it is factual. I have observed that for a long time now. They want to earn fast without putting in hard work. They take shortcuts to copy content elsewhere and paste without acknowledging the original author.
• Mentors did not emphasize zero tolerance for plagiarists on the platform. Some newbies are victims of plagiarism because their mentors did not emphasize that plagiarism is a crime on the platform. They are allowed to explore things by themselves and learn.

Be on your Guard and Watch-out.

On the steem-cameroon community, we check plagiarism on content daily. We issued a plagiarist tag on your account when caught. The first warning is issued if it is your first time, the second warning and third warnings, we ban you from posting on our community.

Note that another way to punish plagiarists is to downvote their posts. This has a great negative impact on their earnings and reputation, especially if the person downvoting has a huge SP like @hungry-griffin.

We should watch out because there is a team out to fight plagiarism on the steemit platform. The team is led by @abuse-watcher with a host of detectives supported by @hungry-griffin. They have a huge amount of SP that if they downvote your post, will affect your reputation on steemit.

Be on your guard and refrain from any act of plagiarism. We in the steem-cameroon community have zero tolerance for plagiarists. We strongly condemned the act.

Little Things to Consider Before Posting.

• Always read over your content and do the necessary corrections before posting.
• When you create an article, of course, it might be your content but similar to another’s article. To be on the safe side, endeavor to check for plagiarism before posting.
• Check the originality of your images and properly referenced them.
• Do not be in a rush to create content. Take your time, think creatively, and come out with original ideas.
