Two Bridges.gif

Here is a photo shot made from Brooklyn Bridge in New York City looking toward it's neighbor, the Manhattan Bridge. Both bridges connect Manhattan with Brooklyn and believe it or not, that's how they got those names. :-)))

Photo is from 1999.

The bridge you are on look so much older then the far one.

I know that it looks different nowadays i know i saw a pic off it somewhere i am going to try to find it and show it to you.

Great I could have done that to offcourse WE LOVE GOOGLE 😉 but even now you See that they are still building around this area so in 3 or 5 years this image is altered again ... I love it

Yes, it is amazing how this large cities still grow and change all the time. One of the most amazing things I have noticed about NYC is how they manage to build skyscrapers, but the life around the construction set remains normal, untacked. Traffic is going on as nothing is happening.

Yep that is 24/7 365 like nothing else matters

I never visited New York... and I'm starting to doubt I'll ever will, seeing that each American President seems to be crazier than the previous one...

Thanks for the photo!

When you visit NYC or any other great place in the US, you don't really need to thin k about who is the President at that time. Just enjoy your trip and don't think about politics.

I know but it's a personal thing. I don't like to travel to countries, when I don't like its current state of politics. I am yet to visit Turkey for similar reasons. :-P

I was in the states once. I have visited San Francisco back in 2010. Lovely city! :-)

There is something about black and white photography. It captures an essence of the subject in a way that colors can't. This is quite industrial, but it's a good photo. You can see a story.

The interesting part of this photo is the legendary status Brooklyn Bridge holds for the area--but not the Manhattan Bridge. The story of the Brooklyn Bridge really deserves a book--full of twists and turns. The man who designed the bridge, John Augustus Roebling, died of tetanus because of an accident suffered while he was surveying for the bridge. P. T. Barnum led a group of circus elephants across (1884) to prove it was stable. More about the history of this landmark can be found here. In Brooklyn, especially, the symbolic value of the bridge is greater than its utility. Nice pictures, by the way. Obviously evocative for me.
