Eyes in the Dark

I type in a circle of light
In an empty room,
Surrounded by
Ghosts of you.

I’m not dramatic,
But intense—
Everything focused
Heightened by tens.

I keep apart—
A hermit on a desert,

But everything
Goes through my heart
And emerges
With your lipstick

<<>>

Isolation
Makes me sensitive.

I write best at night
while animals sleep,
the house creaks...
My soul bleak.

I’m Ulysses
Every time I reach
Beyond my circle of light,

And yes, I'm no saint;
It's true—

But I still venture out
To find you.

Thanks for the encouragement

Lovely verse. I relate to the solitude writing.

Thanks, @wandrnrose7 - it's necessary to confront one's demons by retreating to a desert :)

I must agree with you there,John.

Hope your day is going well, my friend :)

Reading your fine verse has me jonesing again to write some more of my own...

Thank you for the inspiration, my friend!

I was just thinking of you and wondering why you don't - Synchronicity?
