Push-up Challenge!

in steemitfitness •  7 years ago  (edited)

Wow! Here we are already in August that’s just crazy to me. I have been thinking about doing this pushup challenge for a while now and I have decided for the month of August I am going to complete it. That means every day for the month I am going to do at least 100 push ups a day. I love these month long challenges and am usually pretty successful, so follow along and we will see how it goes.

I’m a pretty average guy. I am 31 years old, 6 foot one inch, and I weigh about 195 pounds. I have been physically active my entire life and consider exercise part of who I am. That being said , I am in no means in good shape right now. I can feel I have lost a lot of strength over the past month and have gained roughly 7 to 10 pounds.

Tips if you would like to participate

I was in the 82nd Airborne Division, i know a thing or two about how to do pushups ;) So here are some easy pointers to help assist you if you want to tag along. It is very important to keep a straight back when doing pushups. The easiest way to do this is to flex your quadriceps, butt, and stomach muscles this will guaranty that your back is straight. Look forward while going up and down and always remember to breath when doing pushups (Even I struggle with this still).

When I am doing pushups I like to break up the 100 number into 3 or 4 repetitions. I like to do it in the morning but that is not important. Just make sure you do it! Secondly, I like to do my pushups while cleaning the house. I do a rep (25~35) then I go back to cleaning. Each time I complete a rep my heart rate returns to normal while cleaning the house. Third, what helps me is when I pick a number to complete in a repetition I like to break it up as I am doing it. For example, if I choose 30 I will aim at 15 then I can tell myself okay halfway there just 15 more! I know is silly but it helps. At that’s it, you get in shape and may even get the house cleaned.

A little disclaimer

I do not plan on changing my diet or taking any supplements or anything like that. In the past when I have done this, I have naturally began eating better just as a side effect of feeling better from working out.

Nice! When my hands start hurting from typing I do some pushups and usually makes me feel better right away.

Good you can do 25-35 in a rep, I can only do about 20 at this time :-D

Oh that’s a good odea for the wrist pain I get that a lot too. I bet after a month challenge you coould do 50 straight!! ;)

@balticbadger

yeah I find if I work out on the regular all my muscles are stronger.. So my back, or wrist or neck dont give out as quick.

You're right I probably can!

I wish you all the luck on this...
I like when you combine it with cleaning the house...it's so innovative...
May you achieve your goals and we would be supporting you all the way :)
