What can you do today that you were not capable of 12 months ago?
Not much.
According to BUSINESS INSIDER 80% of New Year's resolutions fail by February.
That's why I don't have a classic plan for the turn of the year. I rather prefer to find (re)solutions to my problems at any time.
Every day is a new chance, not only the 1st of January.

Now I'm asking myself: if you wanted to improve your nutrition, why'd you need to wait until the end of the year to implement that? Changes can be done every day of the year. It's a 24/7 chance!
Still people love making plans for the New Year. It's as if the turn of the year provided some magic. But if I may be talking to you seriously: I really don't believe in that kind of magic.
Here's my take on New Year's resolutions:
The moral of the story: if you want your resolutions to stick, you'd buy some Steem and party hard :-) End of the story.

I love this sentiment! I feel a bit similar about xmas presents but having and adjusting goals continously is even more important.
I just sent my laptop back after resigning my job, so for me i am actually going to have to come up with real goals for next year.

New year resolutions are done to try and make amends for the projects left undone and for promises unfulfilled. Its become a norm and it actually does work for some people. The truth though is that a better percentage of these folks don't go through with the resolutions.

I prefer to call them plans or goals for the new year rather than resolutions.
I have 4 plans for 2018 - to get PV solar panels installed, to buy an electric car (and power it from the PV panels), to double my fruit and veg production to 500kg and to get bees...
And to continue to give part of what I earn here to the various charities on steemit.

Good points. I actually haven't given much thought to a new year's resolution this year. A couple of years ago, we decided to celebrate New Year's day with an annual "party" at our house-- a whole day of relaxing. Brunch, movies, popcorn, and pajamas with friends and family to ring in the new year. I guess it is supposed to be a reminder to slow down, relax, and enjoy the little things. Maybe that should be my resolution...?

We agree, most New Year's resolutions are bound to fail. The problem starts with that resolutions word that makes it an "all-or-nothing" deal. Much easier to skip the resolutions altogether and try these New Year's Intentions instead. Happy New Year 2018!
