What is the best way to reduce abdominal fat and maintain muscle?

The conventional wisdom will tell you that tracking your caloric intake is the best method for losing weight. Noting everything you eat and recording it on a tracking app like My Fitness Pal or Losing it

They claim that, so.

You might give it a go for a few days or even a few months, but eventually you give up because it becomes too difficult and you regain some of the weight you lost.

OR you punish yourself because it is obvious that you lack the capability to control your urges... You quit up once more since it isn't working.

I remember feeling exactly this way a few years ago. Despite having a DEGREE in nutrition, I was unable to motivate myself to calculate my caloric needs in order to keep to my plan.

I ended up engaging in a range of activities...

I had to first learn how to control my urges, not by just shunning them or making an effort to suppress them (which never worked), but by figuring out why I was craving them in the first place. Was there a physiological explanation? Did my body lack a necessary nutrient? OR was there an emotional issue? Did I need the doughnut, chocolate, or whatever to get through the rest of the unpleasant day?
