Some Office Cheer

Office celebrations are always something that I look forward to. Because it is like a stress buster for employees. Between the deadlines, commitments, deliverables some fun moments brings the lively energy back. It is so important to keep doing these little things in office to keep the spirits of employees high and motivated.
In one of my HR projects where I visit them twice a week, I make it a point to keep doing something or the other at least once a month to bring some cheer in the daily routine. We celebrate Birthdays for every every employee in office. It's a good way to bond the teams as well. It's a small office with 30 employees, not much to do in it and the person also feels special. Most of the employees who work here are bachelors and they are away from home and living in this Country alone. So such little celebrations for them make them feel special and cheer them up.

Since last few days our office environment had become a little gloomy, since one of our employee had a brain stroke and has been admitted to the hospital. He is not in a very good condition and fighting for his life. Everyone is worried for him and praying for him that he recovers. As of now the situation is bad, and nothing can be said. I went to the hospital 2 days back to meet his family, they are all broken down. It was very heavy to see them in such a condition. They were not allowing anyone inside the ICU to meet him because a surgery has been done and his skull is open right now. It is a very complicated case. Will take him a very long time to recover and he can get paralyzed also.
With all of this everyone in the office is very sad. The mood of the employees also impacts the work.
With the celebrations there was some cheer that I could see. We kept it simple with a cake cutting and wishes.

While we understand that it is a very misfortunate incident but at the same time life and work also has to move on. Everyone had some lighter moments and the mood in the office changed, which was a good thing.
