These Scottish baked goods are reminiscent of scones and biscuits. Fresh berries give it a pleasant sourness.

Preparation time 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Cherry 15–20 pieces
  • Flour 450 g + for sprinkling
  • Baking powder 2 tsp
  • Salt 1 pinch
  • White sugar 60 g
  • Butter 80 g
  • Eggs 2 pieces
  • Milk 200 ml + 2 tbsp. spoons
  • Brown sugar 1-2 tbsp. spoons

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 240 ° C. Line a baking sheet with baking paper.

2 ․ Peel the cherries and cut into pieces.

3 ․ Sift flour along with baking powder and salt. Mix with white sugar.

  1. Add the diced cold butter. Rub the mixture into crumbs with your hands. Add berries and stir.

  2. Whisk the eggs separately with a fork or whisk. Leave half of one egg to brush.

6 ․ Mix the remaining one and a half eggs with milk. Pour into flour mass and stir. The dough will be soft and sticky.

7 ․ Transfer the dough to a floured table. Use your hands to form a circle about 22 cm in diameter and about 2.5 cm thick.

  1. Cut it into eight equal triangular pieces. If the knife sticks to the dough, dust it with flour.

  2. Gently transfer the triangles to a baking sheet. Brush with the remaining egg and sprinkle with brown sugar.

  3. Bake for about 12 minutes, or until the skins are browned. Serve warm or cool.
