3 Ways To Avoid Bad Breath

in health •  7 years ago

Bad breath seems really unpleasant for most people. It is medically known as halitosis, where it starts from minor to severe causes. If you are uncertain what causes your bad breath, seeking medical advice is highly recommended as some conditions require diagnosis and treatment.

Lifestyle changes can help you reduce the risk of bad breath. Here are the three ways to prevent the condition:

1. Home Remedies

There's no harm in trying home-based remedies. Jennifer Jablow – a cosmetic dentist based in NYC – said chewing mint leaves or parsley helps in reducing bad breath. Parley, in particular, has chlorophyll which prevents the build-up of volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) that promote bad breath. A homemade mouthwash may also help, just add a tablespoon of baking soda into one cup of warm water with a few drops of peppermint oil.

2. Stay Extra Hydrated

Drinking water during the day and avoiding soda helps you in protecting your teeth. Certain vegetables and fruits such as celery, apple, and carrots also act as a natural mini-toothbrush and remove foods lodged between the teeth. Chewing gum may also help you to stay hydrated.

3. Proper Hygiene Habits

Learn to practice healthy and proper hygiene. Brush your teeth at least twice or thrice a day, clean your tongue, floss your teeth, and use an anti-bacterial mouthwash. Developing such habits is really essential particularly to those who are at risk of bad breath, including those who are wearing braces or dentures. It is also important to visit your doctor at least twice a year and remember to replace your toothbrush every now and then.

That seems easy, just brush your teeth after meals and go to dentist regularly.

It may sound as easy as that but in real life it really isn't. Proper hygiene is needed. Always.

Brushing teeth regularly is proper teeth hygiene... -.-

It's more than that I'm afraid. But if you have healthy teeth doing just that, then fine.

I think brushing your teeth every after meal is enough, as long as you don't have any other condition.
