I think there are some who won't ever get it. I suppose if you think that a flippant two word comment made within seconds of the post going live is going to be received as genuine then you're beyond receiving intelligent discourse. Also I noticed some of this kinds of comments get upvoted quite a bit - makes me wonder if there is a trail of other steemians that group and follow each other upvoting each others' comments... My hope is they will eventually get weeded out. Though after my experience with flagging for plagiarism and consequential mass-downvote by the trail of spammers I suggest do reporting these comments to the cleaners.

Today I "gifted" somebody with a flag for the first time because somebody else put a lot of effort to write a post, a really good post and there is this guy who decided to put a direct link to his post in the comments section. I wish I read your post earlier, because I would definitely show this guy your memorable gif. It does not matter what value your vote has, all it matters is to support the stories you like, and try to become part of the community. I believe that if you are dedicated here, the value will come with the time. Nothing is free and will never be free. At least those are my principles. The “vote value” excuse is quite shitty (Pardon me for the French). Everybody who wants to become a real steamian and want to contribute has value, therefore, it does not matter whether it is little or large. I have registered here in June 2017. I was inactive until few weeks ago due to numerous reasons. But my supports are increased bcz of this bad bot and even my service is included in bots section as a whale too..
Instead of losing why not to gain....
If that bot upvoted 10000 young members instead of killing my account by 16700 ud dollars..
Each of them will get 1.67 usd..... then you will see that these guys become voters not spammers

Well, I guess you have a point, certainly a lot of people seem to agree with you. However I am not sure I would make such an issue of it. Why do you care ?
Spam is a waste of time and yes there are people who will post just to get rewards, but just ignore it. Take a Valium. Maintaining free speech cost us all a lot. We have to put up with bad taste, unkind remarks, spam.....some people have paid with there life. You and the many, many people who have written in support seem to feel that the spammer is manifesting a lack of respect for you and your hard work. I am not sure but even if true, you can rise above it. A flag pole through the brain is a little much. Should you be flagged for such gratuitous violence? I would say "no". I believe in free speech, even when it is mindless, self-interested spam.
