Bible teachings for meditation: Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10

The friendship with God and friendship with the things of the world are different: "Don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.", James 4:4.
This is why God in front of men has a decided action: "But he gives us more grace. That is why Scriptures says: ´God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble", James 4:6.
Humility in the Bible means accepting the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability) as the way to salvation and not the flattery of others, the faith and the word of God cannot take root in the heart of man without constancy and firmness, as explains the parable of the sower (Mark 4:1-9; Luke 8:4-8).
Pride is a passion that inclines the mind to error, to sin, the meditation on the teachings of Jesus helps us to understand this: "When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ´Give this person your seat.´ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ´Friend move up to a better place.´Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests.", Luke 14:8-10.
The Kingdom of God is frequently compared to a banquet: "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.", Matthew 22:2. God invites us to his son's party and wants us to participate, but with humility of heart: "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" in Matthew 5:3.
That is why the apostle James teaches us: "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up", James 4:10.
